Five News Relaunch on 6th October 2003

Didnt Kirsty Young work for Talk Radio when she was originally at five news for a bit.

Do we have any idea of what colour this set will be?
If the fffffffiiiiiiiiivvvvvveeeee thingy will be happening on the screens in the background will that mean that style of idents used after the five relaunch?

As this is a five thread. How do you think that Jon Barnes will fair as the main anchor of football on five? Does that mean that the presentation of the show will be changed and we can be guaranteed more football from the channel?

Yes - but she was hardly ever there and Clare Catford presented the show more often than Kirsty did.

The five thing on the screens is just an idea I think, it looked nice when I saw it but it won't be moving as such it'll be stills.

The graphics I caught a glimps of were like the channels own branding, it said something like "we see five news as an extension of the five brand" or something like that. I personally didn't like them and don't thik they'll be used.

I could be wrong.

Bit more on the screen in the background and the desk etc...

There will be no desk just a bench type thing, the presenters will sit at the end of it with the newsroom in the background and or the gallery in the background (all blury though) there will be a standing position from which presenters will do 2ways and wraps etc...and the screen was originally meant to be like the old sky news at ten window which meant that you could see the newsroom at times and images or graphics at other times...this isn't happening now though.

I dont think that we have to wait to long for the new five relaunch. Looking on the radio times website the new season on five seems to begin on Sept 1st with the return of the Wright Stuff and a few other new shows like the Curse Off.... The Chris Eubank revealed begins the week after according Eubank on Party in the Park

But Quantel Leap has already said 6 October is the likely date

Yeh and he also said that it was unlikely that five news would be relaunched at the same time as the channel.

6th October is Five News' relaunch I know very little about the channels plans to be honest. It could well be Sept 1st BUT Five News' planned date is definaltly 06/10/03

Sorry I seem to have got slightly lost somewhere down the line - Five is rebranding?! Again?!

Is it a small tweak or a big chance ala the original Five transition?

Not sure if it is confirmed; but it was reported on here a few months ago that five were going to make minor adjustments and tweaks; therefore keeping their current logo; but may change things like trailer endboards.

Not too sure about the 'five' channel relaunch (if anything does happen it'll probably mean some new idents or something, nothing major at all) the news relaunch will be pretty major, as in a major overhaul on the current look.
