Ah so you are saying that the ITV News on ITV1 and The ITV News Channel share a total of THREE studios now!

No, I have not said that anywhere.

Perhaps you were confused when I wrote "ITV News" in the sense of an umbrella term for ITV News on ITV1 and the ITV News Channel.

The studio used by the ITV NC whilst the main studio is in use for ITV1 rehearsals is more extensive/better equipped than strictly required. It is a 'real' studio, though it is not used as such by the NC.

The point I was trying to make is that it is necessary to move two programmes during the Five News set change because whereas the ITV NC can 'make do' with the old Big Breakfast news facility, Five News's format requires more.

Hmm Whataday you have confused me now!

How many studios do ITN provide for each of the following news services currently!?

ITV News on ITV1
ITV News Channel
Five News
Channel 4 news

The way I see things set-up currently is that ITV News on itv1 and ITV News Channel share a total of two studios - the big one that features at 12:30 and 10:00 etc and throughout the rest of the day on ITV News Channel (or for rehearsals) and then a CSO smaller studio which is used for the 15:00 itv news on itv1 and (news reports) and also on the ITV News Channel whilst rehearsals take place for a 'major' bulletin on ITV1!

SO

If Channel Five utilise the ITV News CSO studio - how on earth are they going to be able to produce TWO news services for ITV1 AND ITV News Channel?

<GOOTOBM>

ITV News uses the main Studio 2 and the old ITN Everning news / ITN News Channel set for the CSO parts of the Newschannel (these are often seen 45 minutes before any main ITV1 bulliten). They also have access to a VR Studio (paid for by ITV used during the last election) and another smaller studio too.

Five News uses the five News centre aka messy newsroom with their studio at the end of it, during the relaunch the will use the current Newschannel CSO studio, Newschannel will move elsewhere.

Channel 4 uses it own studio on Lower ground this used to be the canteen.

The Big breakfast news was orginally from a CSO in the ITN Evening News studio but then came from Channel 4's own studio in the later years. The reason for using the ITN Evening news studio was because it was the same production team (gallery staff) that produced the overnight news summary's on ITV and the ITN Morning News, they then pulled in the green curtain and used the same gallery, studio, staff etc for BB News.

It'll be 2 presenters... and at the start you'll see them dart into the studio and try to get on the chair first. The only trouble is that the chair is on castors.

God knows, the news types said they wanted to give thier shows an appeal.

No, it's not mate. The News Channel CSO is a green screen the same as all other CSO's in ITN.

I would imagine that News Channel will move temporarily into the old Big Breakfast Updates studio in the ITV Newsroom.. Just behind where Station Engineers sit near the Media Manager.

Does anyone have any pictures of where the Big Breakfast updates studio was situated?

I think in the early days the studio was shared with News at Ten.

No News at Ten shared a studio with Channel 4 News.

Five were today looking at shots for the new set, I'm told the newsroom is getting a touch up too so it looks nice in the background. Two projectors will screen live moving images on them and we got a clue to the logo, its a working of the current 'five' logo that animates across the screen the lettering is repeated like this: ffffiiiivvveee...hard to explain really - you'll soon see.

October 6th is still very much the date everyone is working towards and I'll keep you all updated.

This all sounds very nice. All in all, is it looking like the new look will be anything like the original one, or totally different? Can't wait to see it!

What is this studio now used for?

It would be excellent to see it used again - it was so clean and modern. ITV News as it is now looks incredibly dated and the music is diabolically awful.

That's where the CSO set-up for the ITV News Channel is now. A waste really, as that studio was definitely great!

Its also where five News will be presented from during the relaunch work which should last about three weeks.

An odd choice, I would expect a Beeb person to sit in for him...how is she doing?
