Five has a reputation for high profile, primetime relaunches but as we all know it's a very different beast now, so who knows. Quite surprised at how little promotional gumpf there's been about the rebrand itself.

I'd say prior to The Wright Stuff is most likely; failing that, before the new look 5 News.

Seeing that the day does sort of start off with The Wright stuff I would have guessed then but it has to be before 5pm.
Don't forget the new look Gadget show is on Monday( I think )

EDIT: www.channel5.co.uk would have been better and that redirects to five.tv at the moment, the website better reflect the change at the shame time, although the website going to struggle in places with the word channel because of the space.

C4 doesn't seem to struggle with having the word 'channel' in their URL.

( Apologies if going off topic slightly now )

I don't think it is receiving a makeover, but it was recorded in-front of a live audience, or at least the studio segments were. The current look only came in last year.

Really? ITV(.com), Channel 4(.com) and Sky(.com) all seem to disagree. And channel5.com has also been redirecting to five.tv for a few years now.

I wonder whether the EPGs will be changed at that time from 'FIVE' to 'Channel 5', or earlier on in the day?

Sky often do their basic EPG updates at 10:30am, but have been known to do them later (as the ITV1+1/Sky Atlantic launch showed).

When do Virgin normally update their basic EPG names?

Obviously with Freeview, it would require a download to pick up any change in the channel name.

Well this all looks interesting. I've been away for a while, and like others have said I too am intrigued as to what the channel will look like using the new logo.
I'm hoping the package will involve the logo ala the current Idents rather than the 2008 rebrand where the logo was placed in top.

Interesting to note from that digital spy article that 5* & 5USA won't change until March 7th. This happened with this current look, I don't understand why they launch at different times rather than all changing on the same day. Much as I don't understand leaving it until 18:30 as it will be a change from 'five' to 'Channel 5', rather than just a presentational refresh.

The logo still looks shocking, but I can't help but think that it's just the word channel and how it's been added, where '5' alone would have sufficed.

The new font used looks ok in the new promos so far, we'll have to wait to see how the new endboards look. Though they don't seem to have used the new font with 5USA, which is making me think that their presentational will be staying very similar.

Programming wise, the new commissions are interesting, but I'm not sure how many will get people talking about the channel. Channel 4 may have lower rating programme's (compared to ITV1 & BBC One, with exception to Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, but they get the channel talked about.

On the other note I'm glad to see the The Walking Dead will be on the channel.

On a news front, it's great to see Emma Crosby getting the gig. I'd like to see them differ the 5pm bulletin & 7pm bulletin, even if 5pm works similar to the Sky News Live Desk fast paced into reports with 7pm more in depth with interviews.
If news continue to share studios with OK!TV, it would make sense to create a multipurpose set similar to the BBC studio 7 set up and even ITV Regional News. I haven't checked the 5News thread yet, but is this something that they are planning?

Leading onto OK!TV, I'm glad to see Kate Walsh has stepped up to the vacancy left by Denise, and she is the obvious choice especially after Studio 5, but I presume the thinking was that Denise would get more press attention. In my head part of me wonders if it's some publicity stunt to get more headlines about OK!TV & the relaunch of Channel 5.

Sorry if it's been discussed already - never commented on the TV Home Forum...

...but, will Five News definitely been known as 'Channel 5 News' from Monday? Because the Schedule on the Channel 5 website just says "Five News at 5", and "Five News at 7" ?

Also, I do hope that the set can be used for OK TV! & (Channel) Five News! I do hope there is no kind of CSO studio too. Can't stand them.

It does, however, make it a lot less stressful, in terms of capturing the idents, promos, ECPs and IPPs for those who run a TV Presentation site to get them online, as there isn't as much of a rush!

I've seen reference to '5 News' in the Express recently, when they've mentioned Emma Crosby.

It's very strange, all this. Nothing whatsoever by way of a preview, no press releases, nothing. You'd think, given Richard Desmond's love of cross promotion and building up hype, that we'd have some more details - how the idents will look, what the news set will look like and so forth. Maybe he's saving it for his Sunday papers, who knows.

I'm genuinely interested about this revamp - it is being practically forced through by somebody with very limited TV experience, but who obviously thinks he knows what viewers want to see. There's been no marketing ****, just somebody putting on air what he thinks will be good. The good intentions are certainly there, it will be fascinating to see if and how they pull it off, especially longer term once Richard Desmond's enthusiasm has died down a little.

As an aside - rumour has it that Denise Van Outen quit OKTV following a meeting with Richard Desmond, as they didn't see eye-to-eye with each other about the direction the show should take.
