If it wasn't for most of the USA stuff Five would have even less viewers.

not if they did what majority of people watch such as proper In house shows like bbc and itv look at bbc's line up on a saturday

total wipeout/ weekest link
entertainment show such as strictly or over the rainbow
lottery quizshow
casualty
comedy
news
MOTD

five
NCIS
CSI

do I have to go on they need shows which appeal to a wider audience they've got some good shows which I watch like the sports and fifth gear as well as soaps like home and away Five USA Can keep the programmes the few viewers who like NCIS and CSI and five can offer a broad range of shows.

I'm not sure why I am even entertaining you with a reply, but why do you want Channel Five to become exactly like all the other channels? I disagree with what you call "proper" shows. I know that Five repeats CSI way too much, but when it has new season episodes, I (and millions of others) would rather watch that on a Saturday night at 9pm rather than Casualty or Over the Rainbow, or such like.

"The few viewers who like NCIS and CSI" - but aren't those shows some of the highest rating for Five? I'd wager if Total Wipeout had been a Five show it would have flopped, it's all very well saying produce more UK based stuff, but at the end of the day you need people to watch it.

To do that you need people to want to watch your channel and at the moment that is where Five suffers. Five hasn't got a strong identity (and for once on this forum this doesn't mean branding). It's hard to tell exactly who Five are targeting these days.

And how would they pay for all this ginofish, especially if they'd be axing all the shows on the network people actually watch (I.e. CSI!)?

exactly and a channel such as five need's to target everyone If total wipeout was on five it wuldant have amanda and richard which are half the show so probs would have flopped.

if the is a new series of CSI then put it on during the week or in the same slot but dont constantly repeat it .

the bottom line is lots of people watch these shows and five is not gonna get anywhere by repeating things so many times because viewers will fall and fall .

it needs to open to a broader audience and not just put on american programmes and if you want to watch those you can watch them on five usa or demand .

Even if it had them, it would barely have got off the ground. It would have been seen as a daft sort of show that only Channel 5 would do and that's part of the problem.

answer this then could you see NCIS and CSI on BBC because as you say people see shows on five as the sort of show only five would go with and total wipeouts only a example I rekon they should bring back gladiators and put it on five.

The BBC showed some also, but then there were only four channels going for the big audiences. That's the problem for Five, it fails to stand out against so many other channels out there.

Are we in the 80s because for some reason my calender says 2010.

if your using that logic back in the 50s bbc news didant have a invison presenter maybe five should do that .
