Broadcast is reporting that the logo, as used in print for months, will indeed be launching on-air on Feb 14th:

Obviously we'll have to wait and see how it looks on air, but the print version is just one of the worst logos I've ever seen for a major TV station in this country. It's a cliché to say it looks like it was done in five minutes on Powerpoint, but it really does.

Can someone post the image for people who don't wish to pay millions for websites like this?

Just copy the link into google, then you'll get the full article

This is the logo they've been using in the press for months, so it's hardly the 'big reveal' it's been trumpetted as, is it?

When I first saw the headline of the article in Broadcast , I had hoped for a moment that the one we've seen for months was just temporary, or even just a joke!

Unfortunately not! Confused

"C5TV EYEWITNESS NEWS" It is like something from 70s USA, truly awful. Although I'm strangely looking forward to how bad the idents could actually be.

UK TV branding has stooped to a new low.

God, I miss the 90s.

The only saving grace in all this is the reassurance Dirty Desmond will surely lose a shed load of cash with his ill advised ventures into TV. We can put hope he loses enough to put the Daily Star, OK and The Express out of business for good!

Hmmm..... Suppose there's not much you can do with a numeral 5 in a circle...

I see Live From Studio Five has been, "axed"

It is being replaced by, "OK! TV" which will of course have the same type of format as Live From Studio Five so the only difference will be the name of the show, who produces it, the studio & who is presenting it. I HOPE they keep Kate Walsh on, she should be the face of the "new" Channel 5.

Agreed there. She has survived the full transformation of this programme, and I never think of her as an apprentice runner up, she seems so competent in the interviews during the programme. The current incarnation of the programme works very well in my opinion, though it's obviously tainted with the memories of the original premise & production. We don't even know if the new OK!TV will be a live programme in similar vain, though unlike its ITV predecessor of the same name, I imagine it will be live, or as close as due to it being a daily showbiz round up, rather than weekly.

As for the new logo, I know there may be little people have done with a number '5', but maybe some people said that about the number '4' before 1982.

It is very slap dash & as previously stated appears to have been created on some basic/word art package. The big problem for me is the 'CHANNEL' part included. Without this, even the simple numeral & red circle would appear a lot better, though this would still leave a lot to be desired, especially after the strong on screen identity that FIVE currently uses.

As always though, we await to see how it all appears on screen. I wonder if it will be an AM change as its FIVE to CHANNEL 5, rather than like previously at 9pm.

Seems slightly reminiscent of:

For those who don't know, Channel 5 Video was a video distributer from the 1980's, I believe they were bought out by Channel 5 TV in 1997, but I am unsure about that.

I'm sure I had a badge like that when I was 5 years old! It said "I Am 5".

It's hideous! It's a font reminiscent of the Tyne Tees Channel 3 era all over again.
