Demand Five has today disappeared from BT Vision On Demand, without any warning.

According to the Virgin Media website, it's no longer available on their On Demand service either.

I can only assume this is due to cost-cutting measures being brought in by the new owners.

Could this just be technical problems? It has never been available via Virgin but in the past few days some people of Digital Spy have reported that it has started to appear

It's not technical problems, it's been removed from BT Vision.

Demand Five joined BT Vision on 7th October 2008, so it looks like the contract wasn't renewed.

Demand Five has appeared on my Virgin box in the catch up section. Think it appeared today as I don't remember seeing Channel 5 shows there yesterday when looking through the menus.

From the Youtube homepage - it seems it is on their too - but I'm sure it's be on there for ages if I'm not mistaken.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with Channel Five.
I've got no problems with any other channels, but five is appearing with a massively bright White contrast.

Everythings showing in the same way on freeview, but as I said no other channels are affected.

I'm in London, and it seems OK on Freeview here.

Yeah everything seems to have gone back to normal now. Very strange.

Staff are being told to avoid commercial music to save money.

Terrifying idea there that Desmond's own band's music could end up being used. God save us all.

They also want their news and weather staff to look sexier. Yes, Richard Desmond has most definitely entered the building.

He's already hired a weather presenter who started today who meets that criteria. More in the Five News thread.

Not exactly broadcasting but it does show Desmond's attitude to regulation ....

Desmond: newspaper self-regulation does not suit my business needs

Interesting developments have followed on quickly from my earlier posting today on Richard Desmond's threat to pull out of the system of newspaper self-regulation.

I am now given to understand that one of Desmond's executives has written formally to say that Northern & Shell will not pay the required annual fee to the Press Standards Board of Finance (Pressbof), the body that funds the Press Complaints Commission.

His first major run-in with Ofcom could be interesting.

There's a difference between the self-regulation of the PCC and Ofcom.

Agreed there, but it's his attitude to regulation that is interesting, if he's not willing to go along with SELF regulation that the PPC is, what does it suggest about his underlying response to the regulatory process in general.

Well, unusually, Five havn't started with their Christmas idents yet, however, something we've not had in a while, a new normal ident (it's been around a week or two now).

I noticed this, and thought it was a bit odd with a new ident if they are to change the logo. Unless the idea is to just amend these idents with the new logo when it's launched on screen.

Ashley b, am I correct in saying that five/5 are usually one of the first to launch their Christmas pres?
