I think it quite a good ident and a vast improvement on the Five Life idents. I have a feeling that Five US' new logo and possibly name will be revealed the day Fiver launches followed by Five and the new website/VOD service.
Does anyone have any ideas what the Five US and Five new look could be like?
Am I the only one who quite likes this presentation? It's pretty quirky and original and I imagine an attempt to re-skew the channel.
I hope Five and Five US get different logos though.
I think I'm with you pad on this one. They're definately different to five life, and in a simple world they are creating a strong brand - that of the cursor, but I agree that they are very similar to ITV2's yellow squares.
What I don't understand about this revamp is why they're changing five life. Yes five US may have done better than life, but surely now they're making their two channels competitive against each other, or is that just me?
Most of their new acquisitions could be placed on five US, and where do repeats of documentaries, soaps, milkshake and daytime programmes go, they don't seem to fit in.

I think Five Life is changing since it wasn't an established brand with only Home and Away and Neighbours pulling in the figures while Five US has done extremely well with its repeats of Five's top US shows and films.
Fiver is still quite female skewed with Dirt being the only show that could of easily been on Five US. I think that the repeats of Sex and the City was quite a coup especially as the film version is coming soon and will bring in decent numbers.
The sad thing about the five life relaunch is that fans of The Ellen Degeneres Show will suffer, as fiver are axing the 1.30pm showing leaving only one showing a day at 6am.
Considering this show is huge in America and now gets more viewers than Oprah, I consider this as being very poor treatment of the show.
Apart from that, the name might not be great, but the idents are. Five are creating a strong brand.
