Technically yes - but it's a completly different situation.
Home and Away was never axed - the show continued to be produced, it's just Five outbid ITV for the rights (as Sky did recently with Lost and C4).
FW and BG have been AXED - no longer produced, finished!
The actors (I use that term losely) and crew will have moved on, and probably the sets dismantled too.
Going slightly off topic but it's the same problem ITV had with Jane Hall. They filmed it a couple of years ago and left it on the shelf until it was finally aired in the summer and became a moderate hit for the channel. However, it's so long since they filmed the first series that getting the cast together for a second isn't really practical - and hence the show is axed.

Wasn't there a 2 year gap between the pilot and full blown series of Cold Feet. Also same situ with regards to the different series of Sharpe, as well. So it can be done. Wasn't Hornblower continually axed and resurrected due to the different schedules of the actors?

Sharpe and Hornblower are slightly different situations - can't say for sure, but I'd imagine the principal stars would be contracted for so many episodes to be filmed annually or whatever, and then fit other projects around them.
Don't know about Cold Feet - even if the pilot was filmed earlier that is a different scenario than a show being axed, as quite simply if an actor isn't available it'll be recast before the show even airs.

I thought Five US was more of a 'Man's' channel, like Bravo and Men and Motors, so FW USA would look out of place in the schedule? But ‘five’ could show it, or even ‘Life’ I suppose? Or Maybe ITV1 or 2? Why not?

Five US should definitely pick up "Footballers Wives USA", maybe to air parallel to Footballers Wives UK

Well Footballers' Wives series 1 starts tonight on Five Life at 9pm, and its repeated on Sunday Nights at 10pm.
I never saw the first 2 series of Footballers' Wives so looking forward to seeing how it all began.
I've not seen much promotion for the show on Five/Five Life? I would have thought Five would have been plugging it like hell. I've only seen 1 advert in the Metro Paper Today!
