Just saw "give" before five news, kind of a view over a city with lights forming the word "give" followed by "five". Some pics...

They're helping five different charities, apparently.

a nice attempt but nothing to get overly excited about really. could this mean the return of the word 'five' to the idents? in this era of brand awareness and with their two new digital channels i would have thought the word 'five' is definitely needed in their idents.

But 4 only appears in Channel 4's idents for 1 frame.

It's not the first time that five has appeared in idents since the January relaunch, for example, this special for "Big Love"

It was when plans for the other channels they were in the early stages that they decided to drop the name. The name appearing at christmas is probably because the idents are unfamiliar, and hence won't immediately say "five" to people.

Nice christmassy effort from five, and a great idea to promote some charities, although they are a little early.

Too early, but very nice indeed. Big fan of five's pres as a whole. Good effort all round and has been for quite some time.

No-one in their right mind can criticise the promotion of deserving causes, but an ident just isn't the right place to do it. Isn't that why we have commercial breaks? It's charities now, but it could be commercial products later.

Still, at least there's a generic version.

C4 have no plans for festive idents, their duty office today confirmed.

I disagree that it is not the right place, I think it's a nice touch, a great new way to get charities noticed. I do agree however that it shouldn't become the norm.

The idents themselves look really nice, nothing dramatically different but nice all the same. I wonder if the word 'five' appears later in the idents (after the charity appeal) to almost seperate one part as a charity appeal and the other as a christmas ident.

It's a shame channel 4 want to miss the opportunity, I think their usual idents would look really good being digitally decorated with Christmas lights and alike.
