Sounds pretty major, but that's good. It needs it. Hopefully they will create the right image for the network. I'm glad US and Life are changing, I never liked those names.
The question is what to? They can hardly use numbers.
Apart from perhaps Five America and Five Lifestyle, nothing else; but then, the former doesn't even work at all as a name, so

they are changing their tags, it's anybody's guess what the choices will be.

I'm presuming that the change in naming of the channels result in either a change in the main channel branding (as someone has suggested before rtl), or the more likely option that the channels will change there focus so that five US can include more drama and comedy from five and around the world, though what they will do with five life is a different matter.
Though I personally think the current set up and current brands work fabulously.

I can see a subtle inclusion of the RTL branding coming about, unless BSkyB do the rumoured equity swap over the ITV plc shares, in which case the branding could be entirely different.

Five are busy at the moment, not only are they proposing a rebranding (possibly) next year, but they are toping up on this brand. With it being fantasy sunday, they're airing a new ident to celebrate, though it involves a different font (not sure why as their actual logo would have looked great).
They've had the celebrity ident earlier in the week and the bike.
I also saw one similar to bike except with women in the sea and waves crashing around (not sure if its new or old).
And today before the addams family, they aired a five movies ident that looked amazing, set in an animated city with helicopters and heroes, etc. I looked at it and thought that a whole ident set could be set around a fictional five town/city. It would be interesting, but maybe a bit like the comet adverts.
