They obviously prefer to make themselves look like a second rate digital only channel rather than one of the five terrestrial channels. They also think their core audience has such a short attention span (ie less than 10 seconds) that they can't remember what channel they've switched to after the information banner disappears.

Same here, abc1's was perfect & didn't distract at all.
Looking at five's, I don't see what the fuss is all about it's barely visible, but move it down to the bottom please

My only concern is that now five has reinstated a DOG, it might tempt another big network like ITV1 or CH4 to put one on.
Well this worries me as well - it's effectively paved the way for ITV1 to implement one. It wouldn't surprise me if they did.
