Yep it's there on DSat. Don't get five on DTT or analogue.
They got in trouble for this when they launched in 1997, and shortly afterwards even digital BBC One & Two had to remove theirs.
Oh, what the hell, slap a massive DOG on everything, run the actual progamme quarter-screen (a la Bloomberg) and use the rest of the space for sponsors, promos and news tickers.

What a complete disregard for viewer opinion. They know the DOG is hated when they start, so eventually the accede to viewers' wishes (even if it takes them five years) and remove it, then when they think no-one would notice they bring the bloody DOG back!
Why?

Just been on the phone to five. The DOG is apparently back because extensive viewer research carried out by the marketing department indicated that viewers "wanted it" (yeah right) to help them identify the channel they were watching(!)
Tell me this five, how many people were polled? What were the terms of reference of this research?

It's there on analogue, although IIRC the analogue transmitters receive their feed from DSat, so I suppose it would be.
I remember they did actually get a bit of publicity at the time they dropped the DOG, saying that it would make the channel seem more grown-up and more like one of the main channels - not a cheap digital channel.

Welcome to DOG TV. I honestly don't understand why five have brought their DOG back after getting rid of it for so long.
But hey...marketing...sod the viewers once again.

If it ends up that way, which I don't want either, you'll be the one who fired the opening shot.
I believe I have made a point relevant to the discussion and one which has been supported in subsequent postings. Back to the topic in hand please.
