I was going to mention the DOGs but then I just presumed they were probably purely for the promos and it'll probably become a more sensible size when the channels actually launch.
They will be actual size but will be transparent style. Personally the dogs don't bother me at the moment. Personally I think Dogs are overated like Piccadilly circus and Sky
Maybe fiveus should use four letter words relating to america in the idents, seeing the five logo in them makes it seem old compared with the main channel. e.g. 'coke,' obviously not brands but its an idea.
I am impressed by the coverage of NASCAR aswell as NFL sport games.
It won't be full (albeit delayed, as-live) coverage, I doubt they have the licensing...you'll still have to watch Five on Monday nights (and Sundays from November) for full NFL games. I wouldn't be surprised to see TWIB on it come March.
Also as Five US hours end at 1am, they won't be able to screen anything that's usually shown "live" on five overnight.
However, Five US is currently operating in a 24 hour slot on Freeview, though it'll only broadcast from 4pm, but whether this will remain the case I don't know.
Five Life ceases at 11pm and on Freeview shares it's slot with Television X.
P.S. Five really haven't got this channel launch thing worked out have they, screening the first episode of Make Me a Supermodel and the movie premiere of Swat on the launch night of Five Life.
I also think they'd be better off launch Five US first as then when Five Life began at least at 11pm they could advise viewers to switch to their other new channel.
Anyhow, although I'm sure Five will have a multi-channel for years to come, I'm not so sure about the long term future of both these channels, especially Five US - and I'm sure in a few years they'll be rebranded so they can offer something slightly different.
FiveLife is aiming at the Living TV / Loose Women brand of idiotic middle-aged "empowered" women (For empowered, read they-spend-all-day-bitching-about-men) whereas FiveUS is aiming at all ages, all genders and gets a "cool" rating from me.

Your outstanding grasp of demographics really blows me down, Germaine.
Both previews on the channels are playing full length idents at certain times. Might be worth capturing before they flick the 'on' switch. Loving the US idents. Very simple but classy and lovely music. It's great to see the way five have reinvented themselves over the past few years. It's a shame the majority of the public still views five as a porn channel. Looking forward to these channels launches.
