That story says they have had a large advertising campaign telling people about the channels.. well I can assure you that I have not seen or heard a single advert about these channels.

The only reason I know about these channels is because of website like this and Digital Spy.

there have been a lot of teaser billboards around Dundee for five US

"NOTHING GOOD EVER CAME OUT OF AMERICA"

they bellow in large white on black writing.

I don't know about your area Dave, but around Warrington and a fair bit of Manchester when I've been travelling, I've seen quite a few billboards for Five US and Five Life, but Five US seems to have been promoted more and the 'Who told you nothing good comes out of America?' tagline is getting about..

Well that was a rather dull start! Sort of matches the programmes shown this evening really.

The only thing I will be interested in is Happy Days on fiveUS

I can't wait for Happy Days, although Sky+ will be coming into use. I wish they would repeat the double episodes later on!!!!! I wonder if they show the 2 spin-off shows as well - Mork & Mindy, Joannie and Chachi (forgive me for my spellings!)

How is Mork And Mindy a spin off to Happy Days???

I've seen about 4 of these "Who told you nothing came out of America?" billboards today in and around Bolton.

Mork appeared in at least one episode of Happy Days to my knowledge.

Does anyone have a clip of this "double continuity" on Five Life?

See here:

Though it's difficult to tell on those clips, the launch sequence is easier to tell on.

There some other wierd presentation items about on five life. I saw a few earlier, they just seem to be people telling you about something. I saw some on internet dating and some shoe designer earlier.

So did we all just watch the launch of Five US then?! (yes, lots of nodding...) Wink

It started with some guy talking about how he's going to tour America inbetween programmes, talking to people behind and in front of the scenes of the programmes. "I'll now hand you over to the voice of the channel" who is some American woman. The ident itself reminds me of one of the original five ones with the woman in the car as the background zooms past although the scene switches mid way through in this example. Looked ok, nothing special. Other pres seems pretty slick though.

Brilliant site as ever Ashley. To me, thisisfive is the best site around dedicated to a particular channel's pres.

Nice clip - what other channel would go to that much effort for a launch? Although was that a stunt announcer's body or the real thing?! Laughing

Thanks Asa, there are a few glitches around the site after the little revamp, but I do know about them and am in the process of fixing them.

God, the DOGs are massive - especially when in 4:3.

And with the "first chance" DOG too, it's even worse! I don't have a problem with sensible channel DOGs, but these secondary ones should be banned!

All the adverts during the first ad break on Five US were related to America Cool
