Five has confirmed details of it's new channels, with Five US launching on Sunday 15th October, with Five Life following the next day.

Five US will air daily from 4pm-1am, with Five Life airing from 6am-11pm.

Highlights include:

Five Life:
The Ellen Degeneres Show (chat show)
Love my Way (Australian drama)
Supermodel Extra (Make me a Supermodel spin-off)
Home and Away (episodes premiere and weekly omnibus)

Five US:
Shark
Vanished
Conviction (all dramas)
Nightmares and Dreamscapes: From the Stories of... (eight part series based on Stephen King's short stories)

No mention of kid's strand Milkshake, but it is expected to have a slot on Five Life. Also, CSI is expected to be part of the Five US schedule.

It's about time Five entered the digital multi-channel world, but I can't help thinking they'd have been better off concentrating on one channel first.

Would this mean the end of CSI on the main Five channel?

No CSI will remain on five, with the multichannel rights on five us, similar to the arrangement which is currently undertaken between five and living tv.

Having the times clears things - obviously the 11pm finish on the one channel is so TUTV still have a night slot for porn/Teachers' TV, and the other finishing at 1am is for TUTV Anytime's overnight downloading.

Glad that the Home and Away omnibus will be making a return on Five Life. I expect if they are premiering the episodes of Home and Away they will air at 6.30pm weeknights, in a simular way that E4 show episodes of Hollyoaks straight after the channel 4 episodes.

I wonder if series like Prison Break will get their first airings on FIVE US?

Just a note but I noticed on my Freeview EPG today that "five" has changed to "Five".

Also, anyone know what numbers these will take. With Top Up TV channels going, some lower numbers will be available, including 17 and 25-29.

25 and 26 would make most sense!

Looks like ABC1's going to have competition then, up against Five US between 4pm and 1am. Even on Freeview for a couple of hours.

Five Life looks like its going for the sort of audience that UK Living originally set out for, until it changed its mind, bought Jerry Springer and commissioned Most Haunted.

Looks good, I await the new channels.

Well, ABC1 isn't the channel it was at launch - mainly as it's still screening the same things it did at launch!

I'm sure they'll be near the top of the queue though to claim the space freed up by Top Up TV, if not getting a 24 hour slot, at least getting into primetime, perhaps timesharing till 11pm with one of the porn channels.

I've just seen the new logos, which I presume will be officially revealed tomorrow.

I don't like the look of the five US logo - it seems a little rushed and as if no thought has been put into it. I guess the same could be said for the five logo in general though, so I'll wait to see how they display it on screen.

The five life logo is a bit more imaginitive (but only slightly), with no dot above the i. Again, it's not the most exciting thing ever, but hopefully they'll do a better job with it animated.

Overall, they've very simple, which is most likely what five is trying to aim for. Don't expect to be blown away by them, as you really won't be. But if their idents are as good as five's current package, I'll be happy.

I agree with all of the above, it does seem as though it was a last minute thing.

Ah it's after midnight by my watch, so the embargo is over now anyway:

Well, they are nothing to get excited about are they!

I thought there might be some obvious stars and stripes on the five US logo - and to be honest it needs something as it just looks like "five us"

As said above though, it'll be best to see how they work on screen before passing judgement.

If they are launching mid-October then I'd say it's a safe beat an educated guess Top Up TV will probably cease in it's current form by the end of September.

P.S. Any "quiz channel" type strands on either of these channels - considering today's climate I'm expecting they'll have something - probably "Brainteaser TV" in the afternoons on Five Life?

I like the five life logo, but thy are pretty unimaginative.
EDIT:
I'm going to put them on wikipedia if you don't mind, since they are under fair use.
