This is a bit of an odd one isn't it, Five are getting in on the act of overnight quizzing but with Channel 4 owned 'Quiz Call'. It's to air weekly Sunday mornings (1.45am - 5.30am) - a blow for fans of Russell Grants postcards everywhere.

Whilst not a fan of this particular genre of TV, Quiz Call really is the most cheap and tacky version I think I've seen. Graphics, the presenters, the set, the picture quality, the constant use of sound effects - all awful. They have their quizzes on sheets of paper and white boards, looks naff.

Is quiz call actually still owned by Channel 4 Corporation????

I'm sure I heard about 12 to 18 months ago that they no longer wanted to be associated with it and sold it on

I always thought it would be a good idea for Channel 4 to run a quiz show every morning. The Big Breakfast Quiz, featuring games based on the BB.

For example, More Tea Vicar... how many cups can you see... Egg on your face... guess the celeb with an egg on their face...

Lots of potential

Didn't E4 use to have a quiz call type show during Winter 2003 into 2004 from around 9am to 2pm?

I have a feeling they used to show "9 Live Quiz TV" in the mornings.

I also have a feeling that the woman I used to watch on 9 Live Quiz TV is now advertising sofas. Laughing

What would be the point? Quiz Call, as thing stand right now, closes at 2am. Five would end up airing that incredibly irriating (and heavily out of date) Quiz Call loop all night.

Unless of course Quiz Call is going to extend its hours.

Just covering all the bases. Wouldn't put it past Quiz Call to forget one night that they're being simulcast somewhere else all night and just shut down.

Anyway, something I forgot to comment on:

It adds an air of authencity to the quizzes and thing to my mind when the answers are physically written on a huge piece of cardboard so nobody can change them. Doesn't stop the answers being painfully obscure mind, but nevertheless...

I just remember her being really repetitive and slow.

"Call now..........call now.......................£500............................call now. Get on the phone....................... £500...................................."

What they ought to do is get in on the act of overnight closing.
