Twitter reporting fire in White City area involving gas cylinders in the Unigate building near the BBC.

Any news on whether BBC are planning to evacuate? I imagine if worst comes to worst and they have to News could go to Millbank but would anything that wasn't already at Salford be transferred there in this eventuality?

There is currently a fire in the Unigate building opposite the BBC Media Village in London.

No BBC buildings are currently affected. However, Wood Lane has been cordoned off and White City underground station has been closed.

Staff should avoid travelling via the underground station. We will update you if the situation changes.

There is currently a fire in the Unigate building opposite the Media Vilage.

No BBC buildings are currently affected. However, the A40 and Wood Lane has been shut to traffic. Vehicles should use the Frithville Gardens entrance to access Television Centre.

White City underground station has been closed. Staff should avoid travelling via the underground station. We will update you if the situation changes.

Millbank is very much still the news DR facility - but I think the main problem would be getting staff out of the building: Wood Lane and the Westway are closed, and White City station is shut.

If anything, there might be an invacuation, which would probably only mean World decamping to N9.

Where would Red Bee/Pres decamp to should they need to evacuate the Broadcast Centre? I know they have the DR facility elsewhere on the site (which was in use a couple of Christmases ago when they suddenly reverted back to normal idents during the festive pres period) but that wouldn't be a lot of use in this situation...

They're not going to evacuate anything. The fire is a considerable distance from Television Centre, and even further from the Broadcast Centre.

Red Bee's DR facility is nowhere near W12...

TVC is perfectly safe, but there is a rather unpleasant smell in the air conditioning.

And when Wood Lane is shut there is still access from the rear of TV Centre via Frithville Gardens. Anyone would think people had thought about this before...
