I know there is already a post about tonight's Ten on the forum but this is a different topic (I think!).

Fiona Bruce presented tonight's (Wednesday's) Ten O'Clock news for the first time. Coming after her recent comments about wanting a higher job (although this must have been scheduled before) it seems she is getting bigger jobs. Do you think she will be the new main presenter along with George Alagiah when Buerk and Sissons are pensioned off?

If not, who do you think should do it?

NOOOOO!!

I cannot stand Fiona Bruce. She comes across as so snotty, and arrogant. She might be a really nice person outside of the studio, but she needs to smile more I think.

Oh, and does anyone agree that News 24's overnight presenter, Heather McCarthy reminds you of Julie Andrews (Sound Of Music) ?

Yes, definitely. Fiona Bruce and George Alagiah would certainly be the best replacements for Buerk and Sissons.
What do you mean she 'needs to smile more'? She smiles a darn sight more than Peter Sissons!!

It did seem strange to have a women presenting the main evening programme (9/10) after so many years of a woman going no-where near it!!

Yes but female presenters have always played a massive part of the BBC's news bulletins.
There were probably at one point more female newsreaders at the BBC than males.

Why don't they put Moira on the Ten or Six or something? I've said it before, and I'll say it again, they're wasting her talent. Maybe they could even stick her on News 24 (or maybe even World) to present a main evening newscast.

Well personally I went right off her when she had the audacity to slate the beautiful ones at ITN.

I saw Moira presenting on News24 last year, in the mornings.
Poor luv.

LOL!!

Moira Stuart - why does she always make me want to burst out laughing? Not so much these days, but back in the mid-1990s, her hair was HUGE - it looked like, well, she was Queen of Afro! Wink

Nowadays I laugh at the Breakfast crossover to her newsdesk. She says 'Thank Yoooooouu' to Sophie and Jeremy, which is the same 'Thank Yooooooou' every day - I'm sure its pre-recorded!Wink

Asad who sometimes does the News 24 roundups on Breakfast sometimes whispers his thank you and it all sounds very personal with his little nod as well. Its weird that some things newsreaders do make us laugh! Smile
