Final BBC2 current Big 2 Close down

I think whether we get an ident at closedown on Sunday depends on whether they overrun or not.  If everything runs to schedule there should be a final ident at 2.55am; it things overrun even slightly then they'll probably just run a few trailers into the Learning Zone.


I`ll put my money on trailers, knowing the beeb!

ARGGHHH! Thats from my website! how on Earth did that get into a search engine!!!!Shocked

Anyway, if I think on, I'll be setting my VCR to record the Closedown on Saturday and Sunday, whether they say anything special or not!

It kinda brings a tear to your eye to think the '2' will no longer be having as much fun from Monday, as it has for the last 11 years. We've seen good and bad idents come and go - but at least we have some good pics and videos and info of the old fun-loving '2' to remember...

There are bound to be never ever used BBC 2 Idents out there somewhere, idents that never quite made it to the telly (the same can probably be said for BBC ONE balloon footage!!)

I invented this one (if the BBC hadn't changed their logo in 1997, todays idents might look a bit like this...)

Well done James, they have to have a closedown on Sunday nite, they ain't gettin away with it, still I taped last nite's closedown and I intend to tape tonite's and sundays and i'll be setting the vcr for Monday morning to see how the first new ident is introduced, I've gotta felling the fish one will come on first!

It's now 4.18 on Saturday afternoon... just think, some of the current idents have already been used for the last time...

I had an idea a while back which I never acted on, which was to get the appropriate software and create a mock 'end sequence' for the current 2s (not, of course, imagining that the end would come quite so soon). The concept was that it would feature idents like Blade, Swan, Catalyst, Woodpecker, Paint, Paint Pot and Powder, played backwards , with the soundtrack being a forward loop of the chimes from the Neon Sign ident tolling away beneath backward versions of the other ident music. If they did something like that tomorrow night, I think even a cold-hearted ***** like myself might shed a tear!

What they should do, as a final goodbye, is as follows:

01:58.00 'Paint' long version, with final announcement
01:58.30 'Catalyst' (showing 2 on fire)
01:58.40 'Car' (long version, where the Car exits at the end)
01:59.10 'Kebab 1' (showing 2 being set on fire)
01:59.20 'Groilla Tantrum' (showing the 2 being knocked down)
01:59.25 'Firecracker' (showing the 2 being blown up)
01:59.40 'Duck Predator' bumper (where the 2 exits left)
01:59.45 'Motorbike' bumper (where the 2 rides off into the distance)
01:59.50 'Door Close' bumper (which fades to black)
02:00.00 The Learning Zone

Of course, none of this ideas are going to happen, are they!Very Happy

Same here Robert! Here's one I finished off today... (Basically same as that Balloon collection one I did a while ago - lots of clips of the 2's with the Silk backing track)

I was going to say 'And Kebab 2 at 4.50!' but you got there first!

So anyone else now just recording every BBC2 ident that goes out? Remember, this is last chance city!! I'm trying to catch the animations as well but they hardly seem to show them any more!
