Does anybody know which networks have the terrestrial rights for movies from which studios?

I only ask because I assumed movies shown on Film Four would be shown on Channel Four. But I just saw a trailer for movies on BBC2 and I swear Donnie Darko was one of the movies getting it's premiere on BBC2.

The last I heard the BBC had the rights to a number of Buena Vista movies which basically covers the entire Walt Disney stable and a number of 1960's and 1970's adventure films.

Usually the rights are bought separately per channel or group of channels where they're all on the same platform. So usually Sky buy rights to movies that they can then show on any Sky Movie channel for however long.

Therefore a film bought by Film Four is most likely to have been bought only to show on Film Four and not on Channel 4, which would explain how BBC Two picked it up.

When is it coming on? Its a great film.

Anyone notice BBC2 are regularly showing Black and white thrillers on friday nights? I know its stretching it a bit to call little shop of horrors a thriller but it does have a man eating plant.

Yes I have noticed that too. I think these old Friday night film noirs/thrillers are a great idea and quite an impressive move from BBC2 controller Roly Keating. This week's film is the Robert Mitchum classic 'Crossfire', I can't wait Smile

Saw the trailer. Why only four films? And meet joe black has been on several times before, though it is a lot better than the critics made out at the time. why not another premiere?

Yes just 4 films seems a bit too short a season to me. It would be great if BBC2 show Pulp Fiction or LA Confidential again in this 9.10pm slot.
