The likes of Justin Lee Collins and Russell Brand will explain how everyone must have been on drugs in the early days of Channel 4

And to mark the week of the 25th birthday, there will be 25 episodes of Deal or No Deal shown

So they won't bother doing any extra then! Wink

Carol Vorderman has spoke about Countdown doing something, but they don't know what yet.

Personal plea - come on C4, resurrect The Crystal Maze for the occassion!

Also, though I never liked the idea when it was axed, the producers of Brookside did say they may make further spin-off films catching up with the cast after leaving Brookside, so if ever there was a time to make one, it be now!

Re: Right to Reply - much missed - and Think TV never took off. R2R would be perfect for the More4 schedules now.

Film4 has only been on air for a few years so its stupid they are making a big deal of this, even if Channel 4 have shown films on their channel for 25 years!

It's more a case of Channel 4 making films for years.

I'd like to see them do a documentary about Brookside. It would be ridiculous for them to ignore what was a ground-breaking television show.

I believe that 'Walter' was the first Film On Four which was broadcast on the opening Night of Tuesday November 2nd 1982, it's good to see Channel 4 will be recognising the 25th anniversary of this arm, it's produced such films as 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', 'East Is East' and 'Brassed Off' which come to mind, just a shame the production arm ceased to be a few years back.

Someone suggested a few years back that BBC Films, Film Four and The Film Council should merge, that I thought was a good idea, it would be a good rival to companies such as Universal who seem to produce many British films (in the place of Polygram AIUI), the only BBC Film I've seen of late is (the rather excellent) The History Boys, which is quoted as a 'BBC Two Films Production', if you have ever seen it.

Film4 is still producing though - The Last King of Scotland being their latest.

The films are being made, the problem is they don't get the coverage and releases they deserve. Quite often a criticially acclaimed British film will get a brief feature on shows like Film 2007 and in newspapers reviews, generally after they've spent half the time reviewing a Hollywood Blockbuster which has already been declared a flop in America.

Well bugger me then, I never knew that, I remember the news that Film Four were stopping, whether they're co-producing or part funding is continuing I'm not so sure, but bugger me. Laughing

I agree. Brookside was one of the best soaps of the 1980s and 1990s, it was only after about 1998 it went down the pan (although still very watchable until about 2000) so it would be great if they did a documentary.

Didn't C4 do a 'Supreme Championship' of 'Countdown' for their 15th anniversary?

Yep, although I remember the Supreme Championship ran for a couple of months in 1997, especially alongside the celebrations of Countdown's 2000th episode, I've still got the 1999th episode on VHS (which I sent a bit of to TV Ark) and the first half of the 2000th, I did have all of it, but I accidentally taped it over without realising.

I hope Channel 4 will acknowledge their 25th this year, they've done nothing since their 15th, where as S4C did something for their 20th or 21st, I cannot remember which one.

I suspect they will - and it'll probably be all the better for not having celebrated it in ten years.
