if Film24 is still receiving advertising revenue and is a profit making company

You make the the second part sound like a foregone conclusion if the first part is true.

No I don't. They're 2 separate statements in one sentence. I do realise that just because a company receives income, that doesn't necessarily mean it will make a profit.

If I had said "if Film24 is still receiving advertising revenue and therefore is a profit making company", then your statement would be correct.

I know all this, that was the point I was making.

Having said that, given the increasing number of programme commissions and acquisitions over the last few months, I think it's fair to assume that Film24 is (or was) making a reasonable profit. If Film24 was making a loss, I think it's highly unlikely that Caparo would pay for all these programmes.

Fair enough, I didn't realise you had given thought to this - I apologise.

Well I think it is highly likely he would pay for the programmes in order to try and get the channel in profit and certainly if that proved not to be the case it would explain why funding has now been withdrawn.

If the company was in profit it wouldn't usually require "funding", so it sounds as if it were loss making.

It doesn't sound good for the company - assuming the story is correct and it is in liquidation, the liquidator will be trying to raise money from the remaining assets. By shutting down most programming, the implication is that that hasn't been paid for.

The entry for Film24 on the companies house website confirms that they're in liquidation.

From tomorrow, they're changing to a 1 day schedule, with exactly the same schedule repeated every day (with the exception of some of the series, where different episodes are shown), and they're even showing some programmes twice in this 1 day schedule.

There's now a message on their website homepage saying "Site under maintenance"

I reckon that these schedule changes are more to do with logistics and saving money until the company's future is decided, rather than programmes not being paid for, as they're probably operating with reduced staffing levels, and it's easier to play out a fixed schedule than a varied schedule.

Finances may be the case for some of the dropped programmes (such as In The House, which was a recent acquisition), but a lot of the programmes which have been dropped are programmes which they had been repeating regularly, so had already been paid for, and some programmes which they haven't been showing as part of the 4 day schedule are being reintroduced as part of the 1 day schedule.
