As a young bloke who's very familiar with computers Im well aware that you can get all the popular UK TV shows on your PC for free using file sharing programs like bittorrent.

I came accross a site on digg.com which made it very easy to find torrents of any TV shows for use with programs like bittorent.

I was wondering how everyone else felt about file sharing and piracy?

I recently posted about Jack Black's anti piracy comments (see video here). He seems to think that movie piracy is threatening his entire pay check, which just feels like out right propaganda to me.

My view:
I don't neccesarily agree with piracy as it is stealing. However I do beleive that it is a much better alternative to downloading video to what is currently being offered by places like iTunes, Amazon Unbox, etc who overcharge and restrict the video with DRM (they are forced to by content owners like Time Warner).

what do you guys think?

Why is this here? Surely Metropol is a better place to discuss such things?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The type of folks who download stuff for free are the people who in all probability wouldn't pay for the product anyway. The publishers are not going to make one brass cent out of them, as they'd only borrow from mates/ hire CDs from the library etc if there were no dodgy downloads. They're going after the wrong people.

It's people who go out of their way to pay £5 a DVD to the dodgy dealer down the pub that need a kicking.
