Reddit's five second Super Bowl ad features it's own "testcard"... blink and you'll miss it!

I don't have a clip to hand, but there's a small bit in Shaun of the Dead where they're locked in the pub and someone's looking at what's on TV, only for every channel to have a breakdown slide because of the ongoing apocalypse. IIRC there was a good selection, and rather niche choices like Bravo. I can only assume they were made especially for that scene but they look very convincing.

I'm guessing inuniverse that image 2 is meant to be Channel 5... but image 3 reminds me of the BBC Balloon Very Happy

(Film4 of course were originally going to fund the project but dropped out, they still have a development thanks in the credits)

I remember CITV having a Test Card F spoof featuring Horrid Henry and his teddy Mr. Kill as seen as one its bumpers.

Pretty sure I've seen this online somewhere.

(Edit: Found it, timestamp is 0:37 if the embedded link doesn't work)

Couple of interesting things here from Gremlins 2:

A breakdown caption for the fictional Clamp Cable Network and a spoof of the "final CNN end of the world" video. Which was ultimately documented here if you're interested. Apparently if you hear Nearer My God To Thee on CNN then the world has ended.

Gremlins 2 also, according to TV Tropes, features various breakdown captions generated from the Clamp Cable Network, as the gremlins take over the building in the film. Extra kudos for grinning gremlins apparently.

Gremlins 2 also features an spoof film breakdown where the film burns up in the projector (and the Gremlins play a 'nudie' until Hulk Hogan stops them)

It was originally changed for VHS and TV airings to one featuring a bunch of TV channel flipping until they land on John Wayne.

Although that has since reverted to the theatrical version since the DVD came out.

EDIT: It's even in the novelisation, where the Brain Gremlin from the film ties up the writer and starts writing a political manifesto.

That's a good point, the film appearing to break or burn up was definitely a trope in the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons, often used as a device to prevent some perilous situation for Bugs or Daffy.
