A minor one but still nothing I've seen before. BBC Two fades out of a film a bit too late.

A mistiming by NC2 I assume, either because of human error or that the TX form was wrong. On the TX form though it used to say (probably still does) how long the end credits were, so you used to hear the director say “credits on time” as a cross check when they appeared. If they didn’t appear on time it was a useful warning that things might go awry.

Sportscene had technical problems with their graphics this afternoon meaning that none of the scores could be shown on screen.

It's on iPlayer (with last week's date) if you want to share in the awkwardness. I feel sorry for them - that can't have been a fun time in the gallery!

I remember Grandstand doing the classifieds without graphics (years ago, the Des era), just a shot of Tim Gudgeon's head looking down at his script.

Surprised they didn't conjure up a way to show the BBC Sport website on screen as an alternative
Write that down in your copybook now.

Great to see John Tidy on there, I worked with him on the World Rally Championship many times, when his firm Wurmsers was doing the graphics for it.
Very entertaining chap, loves his Amaretto and the converstations into the night about the early days of Grandstand kept us laughing long after we ought to all have been in bed!

The vidiprinter surely? I've never seen it again but I'm sure I remember when I was a kid one Saturday the message 'fire in building, are evacuating' appeared on the vidiprinter.

Before the vidiprinter it was literally a teleprinter with a camera pointing at it.
It was fed with Extel Sport, so the message about a fire would have come from them.

I think it was renamed vidiprinter when the Beeb fed a capgen from the telex data feed. I'm old enough to remember when it was a camera pointed at the telex printout

Apparently the availability of silver marker pens was a major innovation, rather than using white paint and a brush.

And and the vidiprinter just plugged into the same 75 baud 80volt teleprinter feed as the genuine article...... but a lot quieter ...
Agree nice to see John Tidy ...
