Well, there's two ways that I was going to ask this:

1. Which year or particular period is your favourite? Which one had the biggest number of your favourite idents being shown? For example: 1999-2000 was mine, because of the BBC One balloon, the 2s, the hearts, the LWT videowall ident, etc.

Or:

2. Pick and choose your favourite idents from all the main channels you watch, regardless of when they were introduced or discontinued. For example: BBC One mirror globe from the 1970s, 1990s 2s, LWT river ident, Channel 4 blocks, etc.

I'm sure someone will suggest a third option like "How about no?", but if not, feel free to suggest why they were your favourites.

Channel 3 (Meridian) is an interesting choice. Wasn't it panned when it was introduced?

One of my toddler-memories was watching the meridian logo animate before citv, and it was much more colourful than what we have now, so that is why I like it.
It is nostaglia if anything. I was still a toddler, in that time when oner can sit around allday innocently watching playdays, and there were no real worries.

In my understanding, each regional contractor gets half of the channel 3/4 mutliplex. and it is only through comercial aggreements that it has worked out that each region has the same digital channels on Digital 3&4ltd's services. So technically iof my understanding is correct, I was watching meridian's second channel, which is also branded, and ran as other regions' second channel three channel. I've never watched GMTV2, and I might have seen ITV2 in London, but by far I've only watched it in the Meridian region. my callingi t ITV2 (meridian) maybe a bit (if not a lot) pedantic, because there is no real need to distinguish it from other national itv 2s (because there are absolutely no differences in presentation between neighbouring regions' second channel equivilent), :p, but...

I really liked the Scottish tv idents from 2000 to 2003. I loved the music and I loved the way the logo animated onto the screen. They are one of my favourite ident packages.

I know it's not a main channel but MTV's original idents were just the best I've ever seen.

Search MTV ID on Youtube.com to see them

BBC proper branding with horizontal logos - balloons, more variety on the 2s, nice BBC Choice idents and, of course, the News 24 flags.

IMO, the finest branding package ever produced.
