yes yes I'm the one who voted for GMTV, not that I'm saying that it's the best, just that I kinda like it @ that time in the morning, before I go out, and it can be quite funny sometimes
However, if I have the day off and I happen to be up I'll probably put Breakfast on tho, kinda strange I know
However, last week Channel Four news was very good in the mornings...

For me, it had to be TV-am. In fact, I read a while ago that Channel 5 were thinking of relaunching the brand
True or false?
You haven't included the Channel 4 Daily!!

I suppose an interesting issue to look at in this thread would be how long GMTV will last. Not in a franchise point of view, but simply in name.
We've already seen ITN toned down on ITV, and should it win the contract for news again, it will be removed all together. So why should GMTV remain?
ITV are intent on getting franchise holders to remove their own branding from stations, and replace it with ITV.
So how long will it be before we see the demise of the GMTV brand and 'ITV Today'? I think it makes a lot more sense to have an ITV Today programme, no other major network (either in the UK or US) has a programme branded under a different company.

Presentation-wise, GMTV is definetly the best, because it is a separate channel from ITV, and so a variation from the slimy corporate hearts/SMG idents (but do SMG not own 25% of GMTV?) anyway....)
It is also the only time in in Scotland and Ulster you can see generic ITV1 trailers

Sunrise is my favourite morning show, and always has been since TV-am ceased broadcasting.

Hardly pioneering.
The Americans have had breakfast TV in the form of NBC Today since the 50's. In comparison we only managed to get on to the trend in the 80's, with BBC Breakfast Time.
I know someone is going to come on and tell me how YTV's Good Morning Calendar was the first ever British breakfast programme.
Come on, you know you're out there.

TV-am ruled! I have a tape of Good Morning Britain from 26/2/1985 (aka the day I was born) and it is just fantastic! Here's a selection of images I grabbed.

and that doesn't include all the stuff I've missed - Pop on Tuesday, Lizzie's exercises, the cooking spot and Jeni Barnett's Postbag which is really funny! Plus it's impossible to capture the informal, bright and cheery air!
