Ok,please put your comments here!
It had to be English because i could not fit Newsline,Wales Today and Reporting Scotland on,and had to current because I could not fit South East Today on! Smile

Would have to be Newsroom South East - but then it's the only one I can see properly. In olden days I was a big fan of London Plus.

Definately North West Today! How can you resist the presenting team: Gordon Burns, Stuart Flinders, Martin Henfield, Nigel Jay, Julia Sharp. They're all brilliant!! The programme is regional newsy relaxed attitude, but is still formal and engaging. And with one presenter, it is definately the best region in England!

Even though I have NSE, when I go down south I much prefer South Today for it's studio and title.
Why is NSE's so bloody small, when will they ever have a soft area??

I live in MidToday land, but can see EMT by playing with a portable aerial.

I have only ever seen any other regions whilst on holiday in the UK, which hasn't been for ages (certainly long before any regions went generic).

EMT may not be one of the best English regions overall, but out of the two I can get, it's by far the best (because MidToday is utter pants!).

So it gets my vote!

Not sure about the point of this poll as most people can only see 1 or maybe 2 regions. Unless you have watched them all you can't give a fair judgement

NSE, when based at Elstree, initially used a soft area of sorts for sport (with an armchair and no desk) This seemed to stop - and in fact they stopped using a studio based sports presenter when Rob Curling left.

Now that NSE is coming from a tiny corner of the Marylebone High St newsroom - only just space for one presenter, the desk and the three cameras, I wouldn't hold out much hope for a soft area on NSE.

When BBC London launches (October? Certainly a little while after the Sept 3rd region split) I would expect a new look - possibly quite significantly different to the current generic look in use in the other regions - who all have studios.

BBC London does not have a studio area like the other regions - so a big news set and projector plus a soft set would be more difficult to accommodate in their relatively small newsroom, and they have decided not to make use of the BBC Training studio on the same site.

(Of course Elstree didn't really have a studio either - but were able to curtain off and use a large area of their huge newsroom!)

Do you suppose that London Live (or whatever) will not completely disregard the generic look, but will perhaps have a newsroom-overlooking style (much like BBC World), rather than the particular interpretation of the generic look that all other regions have?

This would mean that in relation to the other regional shows it would look completely different, but in relation to generic BBC news as a whole, it would conform.

That would seem to be a very good idea. Someone on another forum was mentioning that they would be using the newsroom backdrop, so I hope it does conform to the generic look somehow.
