I complete despise all this rhetoric that I've heard for years and years about how people are classified due to which national newspaper they buy. Daily Mail - 40 year old housewives favourite, The Sun - builder, Telegraph - Tory aristocrat...
People who make comments on what kinds of readers certain newspapers attract obviously watch Have I Got News For You too much - and they laugh at every single joke, not even knowing why they're laughing.

Yes, that's just the type of person I am. I have no idea on who reads what papers, unless you count the several years I spent in marketing at a leading newspaper group, or my training in studying Mosaic demographics.
C4: Yes if you have cable, we've had it from day one. Satellite, most likely at some future point, but don't hold your breath.
C5: Seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

What happens to the republic after the switch to digital tv?
We won't be able to get UK TV off air. All other current sources will still most likely carry it though.
Quote:
Is the republic getting some sort of freeview?
There's a trial DTT service now operating from Three Rock and Clemont Carn. This will hopefully develop into a proper service at some point.
Quote:
Can C4 sell Big brother to RTE 2 for live streaming ect as it gets so many viewers over here... we are still hearing about SPORIAL from FINGLE-ASS all the time?
It can if it wants, but it won't. Why canibalise your own audience?
Quote:
Why do RTE show all its c4 imports so late at night?
Ah, the mysteries of RTÉ scheduling... seriously though, RTÉ as the public service broadcaster is *supposed* to show mainly Irish programmes at peak times.
Quote:
Is TV3 allowed to show c4 programmes with its deal with itv?
Not specifically, no. Its deal with ITV covers only ITV. But conversily, there's no bar on TV3 acquiring ITV programmes.
Quote:
Can someone tell keith duffy that the programme the box is just a lame version of the 24hr quiz and its crap?
Judging from newspaper comments, I would imagine the whole of Ireland knows this by now...
Quote:
Why does Lost start so early over here TOMORROW S3?!!!!!!!
RTÉ shows many imports ahead of UK terrestrials in order to minimise the effect of competition from UK broadcasters in the market.
Quote:
When will rte launch a digital tv channel?
Most likely when DTT is fully established. But for now, expect them to concentrate on RTÉ ONE and RTÉ TWO.
Quote:
Can we have the english daily mail back and not the irish one as its crap (I miss you night and day!!!!!)
Judging on the sales improvement of the Irish Daily Mail over the UK edition. (Associated though are practically giving the paper away) I would say never. Not sure though about the wisdom of the
Irish Mail on Sunday Incorporating Ireland On Sunday
though.
