Looking at these actually reaffirms what a mistake bringing News at Ten back may be.

BBC One does fine with primetime being between between 7 and 10.

I say regional news can go to 5:30, with national news at 6:00. Then you have your soap-of-the-day at 6:30, and then you have 7:00-10:00 with a lot more freedom.

Here's a newer schedule with the Evening News moved:

How do you suggest they get through Golden Balls in half an hour?

I've only seen bits of the show, would you not say the format could be adapted?

An hour probably drags it out a bit (although these days that's par for the course) but I doubt it would fit in 30 mins, the final round usually takes around 20 mins. 45 mins would be ideal

Well I suppose if the National News was 15 minutes in length from 5.45 to 6.00 the Regional could be 6.00 to 6.15 then Golden Balls could follow 6.15 till 7.

Or you could admit defeat and keep the news in it's current slots with Golden Balls before hand.

Though having had the misfortune of seeing a couple of episodes, it would more than fit in a 30 minute slot.

Oh, a little like you having to admit defeat when the News at Ten was absolutely confirmed to be coming back, despite you saying adamantly it wouldn't and however much you think it's a stupid idea (for reasons I cannot quite ascertain). Sure thing Brekkie Wink

The South Bank Show was the first show that Grade safeguarded until at least the end of the decade when he moved to ITV. It get's a regular 10:45pm Sunday night slot when the series is running.
