Can't believe I forgot this one: Dionne Warwick. Again, it was on a flight. Lufthansa from Munich to Frankfurt early one morning back in 1999-ish. It was one of those is it or isn't it scenarios. Although I was sat right next to her, she looked remarkably different from the lady we see on screen. Slight, pale and with very tight hair. I wasn't sure whether just to blurt out and ask her.

Upon landing, she sheepishly asked me if I could help her dislodge her carry-on back which was trapped on the edge of the overhead locker door. I pulled the bag out, and saw two huge initials "D.W." embroidered into the central panel on the front of the bag, which confirmed my suspicion. We then chatted very briefly walking up the jetway into the terminal.

At was an all-Economy Class service and no separate business or first class cabin. However, she was still seated in seat 1A, with only me in the immediate vicinity around her.

Oh, hang on. DW???? Damn. maybe it was Dale Winton! Joking. It was definitely Ms Warwick.

Asha Bhosle (Indian Playback singer) on a flight to Bombay once.

Erm. The Queen, Kate Middleton, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, David Tennant, Jeremy Paxman, Fiona Bruce, William Hague, Pete Burns, Jeffree Star, Nicola Walker (Ruth in Spooks) & the lady who played the Chancellor's assistant in S2 of Spooks (I only mention because that happened yesterday). Plus a few more, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

And I shook hands with Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie

Is Savannah Guthrie as tall as everyone makes out?

Well put it this way, she was taller than the other two presenters that day!

Bumped into Derek Acorah at Tesco Litherland, quite literally. I'd already seen him a few minutes before. Suddenly he was right in front of me. His trolley bumped into mine. He grunted, and walked off.

I doubt anyone can top THAT.

I got his autograph and had an extremely bad picture taken with him.

Talking of Tesco, I saw the back of Chico in one once.

Oh, and met and got the autograph of the one and only Bob Warman.

I crashed into her with my trolly in Sainsburys. Anyway, isn't this a rather silly thread for a forum full of people who work in broadcasting ?

That's the point - the thread itself is outstandingly out-of-place for TV Forum. And that's why I made my original post, to poke fun at it really.

I do have more impressive meeting stories, but this is something for Metropol really.

I once saw Alex Walkinshaw (who played PC/Sergeant/Inspector Smith in 'The Bill') in my local park in South East London with his two children. My father also once saw a former senior executive at ITV shortly after he stepped down, and both my parents once saw Princess Diana at a Buckingham Palace garden party they were attending.

I don't understand why, I apologise that I mentioned he was with his family but I thought it was relevant.
