I once hit Carol Malia on the head with a balloon.

Patricia Routledge remains my top celeb meet however.

Carol Vorderman at an Acorn User show in about 1990. As cutesy off screen as on.

Craig, winner of Big Brother 1 - who came into my Tesco and asked as many staff as possible for "schkweezhy lemonzh" just to ensure we knew it was him...

Outside of TV, the fantastic Gloria Estefan remains my big meet though...

Despite being an avid viewer of the box, I am actually quite vacant when it comes to folk off the big screen.

- Sat next to the great Steve Martin in the Swissair lounge at Zurich Airport in 1996. He was going to New York. I was going to Bombay. Chatted to him for a good ten minutes or more about weather, excess baggage and other sh!t before I eventually realised who he was! LOL. He found it mightily funny;

- Sat next to Tony (or Toby?) Anstis on the BA shuttle from Glasgow to London one early Monday morning yonks ago;

- Glen Michael in High Blantyre back in '83, when he was doing his Cartoon Cavalcade Roadshow. Nice man.;

- Esther Rantzen in Buchanan Street in Glasgow in 1989, when she was vox-popping for "That's Life! Tons of make-up.",

- David Cass (ITN overnight newscaster) on a flight from Doha to London many moons ago, and before Qatar Airways were actually as famous as they are now! Cass was working for an Abu Dhabi based news channel and flew on Qatar as part of his contract. I said hello to him whilst he was queuing to go to the lav, and he said "oh, sorry. Didn't see you there. How are you doing? How's the family?". Hmmmmm.

- Angus Deayton and Giselle Bundchen together, at the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai. Co-hosts presenting another Qatar Airways awards night. Angus is tiny and skinny........................

- Tiger Tim: dozens of times at the Hamilton Palace nightclub in........er......Hamilton;

Define "famous", though?

I've met Jeff Stelling, Rachel Riley and Susie Dent all more than once, also met Alastair Stewart (genuine nice guy), Tim Vine, Lucy Meacock and Mark Watson.

I've seen Des Lynam, Gregg Wallace, Dave Spikey, some Granada News reporters, Kym Marsh to name a few.

Tony Robinson came to my high school many moons ago too.

EDIT: Also said hello to Fred (the weatherman) Talbot when he and ITV came to my village to film a Where's Fred?

Dermot Morgan, in a hotel bar in Dublin. I actually noticed him first in the loos, when I looked up from washing my hands and realised the chap at the sink next to me was Father Ted.

Also, Ashley Jensen was probably the most famous of the cast in the not-very-good BBC Scotland comedy drama which was filmed in my parents' house. In one scene, she was in my bedroom, not wearing very much. This story probably loses some of its sheen if I mention that I was at school at the time.

I once walked past Jimmy Savile, and I've seen Sue Johnston at a distance without realising it. I think that's it.

And I shook hands with Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie

Is Savannah Guthrie as tall as everyone makes out?

Oh yes, and I met Jimmy Saville once when stewarding at the Great Scottish Run. He came powerwalking by between the half marathon and 10k race, and shook my hand and thanked me for helping keep all the runners safe.
