Family Fortunes Rip Off ?

Just found this clip of Berts Family Feud , which is on Australias Channel 9, it seems very similar to Family Fortunes....

Family Fortunes is based on Family Feud (American Format).

Nope it's the same format, Family Feud originated on American TV (and still runs to this day), ATV bought the right to the format in 1980, and I believe it was the late Bob Monkhouse's suggestion to change the name to Family Fortunes.

Don't worry about it, when we went to New York a few years ago, we flipped on UPN9 and we were just the same, in that "This is just like FF!" Though I did my research after it...

Plus the US version was on some Music video a few years ago, the presenter was the guy who played Al in Home Improvement, though I think someone else can explain it better than me.

I wonder why it wasent called Family Feud here in the UK, but Family Fortunes seems better though...

I cannot remember where I read it (if anyone wants to post up a correct reference than feel free to do so) but basically Bob Monkhouse didn't like the word Feud, and that it was more of Q&A and winning some prizes, hence forth Fortunes, it wouldn't have felt right if the UK Version was called Family Feud, as everyone seems to play Happy Families.

Because Feud was considered too strong a word for what the show actually was.

Anyway I bet they didn't have the Turkey man in the American version

Yep, as the others said, the original version is from the USA, but others has bought the rights and localised it.
