There is an audience as they were advertising free tickets for it on Applause Store a month ago.
Gino was right - producers really should have chosen someone else. To be fair though I think this really suffers from having no audience.

I’m finding Gino quite ‘slow’ so far and the voiceover isn’t a patch on Steve!
A Les Dennis episode would have me knackered by now with the energy, suppose that is the problem having to stretch things out to an hour
Even the £30,000 prize seems a bit boring compared to the choice of a car (being shown off in the studio) or holiday!

Gino is doing as well as he can... but I don’t think a rigid game show is the right format for him for his type of presenting or humour.
The show seems a bit slow going at times... a far cry from the slickness of Les Dennis and even Vernon Kay to an extent.
As someone pointed out... though this can utilise households and therefore be a perfect game show to film during a pandemic, it’s really lacking from a normal sized audience. The lacklustre small scale applause boosted with a dose of canned applause makes it feel a bit disjointed.

Yeah, gonna agree that 1 hour is way way too long and it is being padded with useless chit chat. They could easily make this run for 30 minutes without the seemingly injected ad breaks and only little chit chat if its relevant.
To be fair, £30k could easily buy a car in today's money. The free cars back in the day were usually due to special deals that were possible back then but are unlikely to have much meaning these days. If anything, free holidays would be the alternative to a car.
Also, lack of audience is definitely not working for this. Without the audience, the show just doesn't have the same "feeling" for it, and Gino is definitely out of his comfort zone. Perhaps it's just a first series nerves or similar, sort of how Chris was for Millionaire, which eventually became a non-issue as the series progressed, but it's not like 30 series of Family Fortunes are likely to happen any time soon

The inconsistency with the audience sounds (partly canned?) gives me weird vibes, especially when Gino is being theatrically exasperated and there's hardly any laughter, makes it seem a bit sinister.
When was the last time a game show was commissioned that was only half an hour long?

Only thing I can think of was Blockbusters for Comedy Central and Challenge, but prior to that I actually can't think of anything.

Basically any game show prior to Deal or No Deal being created. Since then, and even in the mid/late Millionaire days, episodes have to be an hour long now for some reason. Even DOND started as 45 minutes and was extended by 15 minutes just for pointless "chit chat" padding.
In fairness, it works for some formats like Millionaire, Tipping Point and The Chase, but others it is terrible and you can see the obvious padding. They can make soaps to 30 minutes, why can't they make game shows like that?

In for a Penny is the only one I can think of.
