Am I the only one to notice today's family affairs is missing the film effect? Is this a mistake, as I doubt the producers would consider making this sort of change with less than 4 months left until it ends in December.

This is because of these special episodes, It has been like this all week.
I can't wait until this programme is over, this storyline is the best they have had so far IMHO.

No, a new producer has taken over. These are the first episodes tottally produced by him. He was under the impression that Five were going to keep the soap on for a least another year and had big plans for it. This new film effect is permenant I think. He also wanted to change the name of the show and make it brighter and have a sexier cast. A couple of "sexy" nurses are intorduced soon.

I'm surprised "Thames Television" isn't putting the show up for offer.

Its a shame, because more recently the show is performing better in ratings, magazines are giving it more room.. it won two awards earlier in the year and NOW five decide to axe it!

The stigma of 'Family Affairs' being a crap soap will never leave. People who don't watch it judge it and say "Oh its rubbish, they can't act larde-da-de-da"

I can't imagine anyone else buying the series. However The Bill is shot in the same studios as FA and I do recall plans for a spin off soap about a Sun Hill Hospital soap or something, perhaps they could keep the set and use it for that or The Bill?
