While we're on the subject of breakdowns, there was one on BBC1 last night at about 1.45 in the morning. A documentary about asylum was playing out mistakenly - for a good five or ten minutes or so - and then it suddenly went off air halfway through, was replaced by an apology caption for about five minutes, and then the correct programme ("In Search of Shakespeare" with signing) came on. No announcement or anything though.
I was only up because I couldn't get to sleep because of this bloody weather!
(Which reminds me, how the hell can they screw up the showing of Bargain Hunt...Can't they just show the episode from last Thursday?! e.g last Thursday was Rugby Playes but tonight is the Caribean people!
Yeah caught that - as soon as Patrick said "turn over to BBC Three", I (like the tens of other viewers who did) turned over to be presented by the start of the ident (wonderful timing) and no anno at all under I assume, the end of the ident. Screen goes black, shocked breakdown blob caption appears and silence...and more silence before Claudia turned up and apologised.
Now I have absolutely no idea of controlling a channel when it comes to live output but it was quite poor, especially for a show doing poorly on BBC One, let alone BBC Three. Is there just one person in charge? Is it a case of being understaffed or just asleep?
