the final had 8m viewers - the results. the 1st show had 6.4m and beat PI so i dont see why there wouldnt be an FA3, especially if next time there isnt competition of the same kind of show.
And there are those that say Fame Academy never beats PI in the ratings.....
Just found this in one of the television listings magazines:
Quote:
CARRIE'S HEALTH CRISIS
Fame Academy coach Carrie Grant is glam, gorgeous and always upbeat. But she is also having to battle an incurable disease. Amid the rough and tumble of Fame Academy, judge Carrie Grant is a beacon of sanity. Married to fellow judge David - who had hits with the band Linx in the 80s she's firm but fair with the students and is a shoulder to cry on when the price of fame seems too high.
but behind the smile lies a sad secret. for the past 14 years Carrie has had severe Crohn's Disease, an incurable illness which means no food can be absorbed by the body. "My stomach lining is disintegrating and my tubes are withering. Unfortunately, there is no cure for Crohn's, so the doctors routinely chop out the withered bits and swe it all back together again."
Such is the severity of the condition that Carrie has resigned herself to the fact that she might eventually have to wear a colostomy bag. "I've decided to stick a load of sequins on it and turn it into a huge fashion accessory. I won't let it beat me"...
Interesting stuff, she looks so well on the screen....

I noticed Bedingfield is coming in for some stick from everyone today. Don't blame them - that was dreadful on Saturday.
I notice the beeb have yanked the message board already. Could it have anything to do with the fact that there were rumours circling that there was a memo saying is Alistair won it wouldn't be recommissioned? hmm.
All that matters?! Lame Academy's
final
only just beat a
regular
show of Pop Idol.. when it comes to the Pop Idol final, the ratings will be phenominal!
But that *obviously* doesn't matter, as Lame Academy is about "real" music that obviously is unappealing to most, judging by its dire performance.

First of all, don't call it 'Lame Academy'. I've stopped using 'Pap Idol' and I expect similar reciprocal respect from 'the other side'.
Of course Fame academy is about real music, and better quality at that. the contestants aren't walking karaoke machines, they're REAL ARTISTS.
And it may well be about "real" music, but that doesn't stop the show from being as dull as ditchwater. They can use the real music excuse all they like, but it doesn't wash with me - the programme generally has less viewers that Pop Idol because it is a poorer product, simple as.

Maybe the show's as dull as ditchwater because maybe you're not giving it a real chance with an open mind. I'd rather support those that write, score and compose their own music instead of relying on cover versions to get hits. I'm a musical purist, I want to hear originality in music. I admire those that have used their own material to establish a route towards the charts, not someone who achieves a number one hit by sponging creative talent from elsewhere.
Fame Academy is allowed to be crap because it encourages real artists.
This is frankly a poor excuse for a poor programme. The BBC would give their right arm to have come up with Pop Idol, but seeing as ITV beat them to it, they have to pretend that FA is different by putting a public service spin on it. The fundamental problem with FA is that the programme sets out to find the next John Lennon, and ends up with a teenage dyke who I would class as distinctly average. At least Pop Idol is honest in what it is - it is a fun show which sets out to find decent entertainers. No doubt, Katherine, if it was on the BBC and FA on ITV, you would love it.
I heard Jim Rosenthal was lined up to replace Patrick for the next series...
