What a FAB result!! Right from her qualification show I had the strong instinct Alex would win. I backed her and my faith in her has reaped great dividends. I am SO pleased for Alex and well done to her dad who sent the tape in that started her journey to winning!

This is a PERFECT start to my 26th birthday celebrations (I'll be 26 in just over half an hour) and I'll definitely be buying her single when it hits the shops!

BTW, Simon Cowell has told a newspaper that he watches FA and wishes he could sign Alex. Hmmm...

He also said that when he was on Liquid News last Friday. He and Claudia (representing FA) had quite a good chat about the differences and similarities between the two shows. He certainly admitted watching Fame Academy, and said this year the quality of the students was much higher than last year (which it was IMHO) I think he said that he would have loved to have had Alex or Alistair on Pop Idol.

I'm just very glad that Fame Academy produced a winner who is likely to be very different to what Pop Idol produces.

Well that was fantastic - really entertaining. I loved every minute of the aftershow on BBC Three as well - great to see the party going on there too. Well done to Alex - she truly deserved it and the song she had written was amazing! And happy birthday Katherine!

Well I could have told you that Alex would win last August. The judges would let anything and everything slip by, Richard Whatshisname especially, when all the others got slated - and the Daniel Bedingfield duet along with her pretty dire John Lennon cover went on to prove that point. In my opinion, it's not a difficult song to kill anyway - I hate it - but she absoloutely murdered it.

Sorry guys, but I disagree with this one. Shoddy end to a shoddy show. Good riddance to 2 seasons of utter crap.

My sentiments exactly - it's good to see. I hope Fame Academy comes back for a third series, although it would be hard to beat this year's bunch of students. They were a real improvement on last year's, and really entertaining to watch, too.

No doubts that Alex is a worthy (and probably deserving) winner, but it would have been nice if the BBC had let her win without feeling the need to put down Alistair at every available opportunity. If they weren't knocking his talent (especially that which he has in songwriting) they were looking for ulterior motives in everything he did (i.e. voting off James/Peter) or just making juvenile nose jokes. Bringing on Daniel Beddingfield (with his 5 hits) to tell everyone to vote Alex was just silly and pathetic.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Alex is a unique talent and it is to the credit of this reality programme that they have discovered her (as otherwise she would not have been found). However when series 3 comes along (as I hope it does) I hope they play fair by all contestants, not just their favourites...

Now as a musician I have tonnes of respect for Daniel Bedingfield, his versatility never ceases to amaze me. But if that ain't rigging the bloody contest, then what is?

*GASP* Calm down Katherine - I think you've had too much birthday cake!

I haven't been watching Fame Academy at all, apart from brief moments at the start. Unusually, the first time I saw Alex, I knew she'd be the one to win - so I'm glad! Smile
