if i am honest with you katherine, i think you are wrong.

i think they will all have a short shelf life. i might be wrong, and they may turn out to be legends like the beegees or the stones, but i doubt it somehow.

I'm not going for a direct comparison, I'm merely saying Alex will last the longest because she's the most 'different' performer from the bunch, however long that will be for. She's not afraid to be herself, and that's something I admire in a person.

whoever gets a career out of this show (at least a couple of them will), they wont last. peoples tastes are evolving too quickly now, and it is very difficult for new talents to become established.

there is also the immense snobbery and hypocracy of many TV shows. I think the only one that doesn't display this is Liquid although whether that is due to it's general cynacism or just because it's so closely tied to Fame Academy is up for debate.

I think the papers/media in general are trying to compare Pap Idol and Fame Academy but failing to realise that there are differences between the two. Pap Idol are manufacturing walking jukeboxes but Fame Academy are producing better artists.

That's because BBC1 viewers and therefore the general media don't see any of the Academy stuff, all they see is a poor version of an episode of Pop Idol every week. At least the Academy stuff was on 1 last year

If they have Sky, they can see as much as they like - the BBC have a continuous 24/7 live feed on their interactive services.

Surprised they haven't come up with a way to patch that onto BBC Three's channel during the day. I know it shares capacity with CBBC but as it's being transmitted full screen via BBCi I wouldn't have thought it that difficult to redirect the channel to that transponder

Pardon me for ignorance but what is involved in 'patching' exactly, and how does one channel i.e. BBC THREE share capacity with another i.e. CBBC?

If Fame Academy gets a third series, I hope they can find a way to expand their current interactive service for this series. They could have things like a highlights screen featuring the best of the week's action and maybe profiles about the students etc... it seems rather under-potentialised at the moment, if you understand what I mean....

My understanding is that the EPG numbers act like a redirector to a particular frequency, so I would have thought it would be relatively easy to change where BBC Three's channel points at during the day

What do people think of the Fame Academy Bursary - funded through the phone votes. I don't really see it as the BBC's job to be funding music projects and would prefer to see it all go back into the BBC's licence fund.

Also, I'm sure when FA1 aired they said money raised through phone votes went to Children in Need!

I think it's a great idea; they seem to be saying by this that they're committed to helping young talent in whatever form that might be. It's great to see young talent being helped by ways like this. The Children in Need money's great too, but when it runs out, where next?

But of course, there'd be no need for this if the government invested in the right areas.....
