With the way things are going, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Gina won the thing!

I can't believe that I am being made to feel wronged for raising an issue such as this. Its the 'sit back and accept reality' viewpoint that is wrong. Why should I accept the "corrupt, vulgar, self centred society" you talk of?

It's not the action, it's what you interpret it as! And if you take a little hand gesture offensively, you need some help.

indicating, in my opinion at least, that the whole thing was to be taken in fun and NOT seriously.

In my experience such a hand movement has only ever resulted in fun...

From Digital Spy:

Celebrity Fame Academy "headmaster" Richard Park is under fire for making a rude hand gesture at host Patrick Kielty live on the show.

The incident, broadcast well before the watershed at 7pm, came after Park criticised Kielty for "sycophantically stroking" the egos of the contestants.

As the camera cut to co-host Cat Deeley, Park was pictured in the background mouthing the word "w****r" before making the accompanying gesture.

Unusually, there was no subsequent apology on the show, although in a later broadcast Kielty thanked Park for his earlier "wave."

A picture of the incident, below.

i clearly saw that 'shake the sauce bottle' gesture and it was unnecessary. i'm not saying i was offended by it but all the same it was just a cheap shot on richard park's part and i don't think patrick actually deserved it!!

Is this the last Fame Academy now then? For me the show has lost the freshness it first had.

Cat cracked me up when she said Lemar would be a surprise guest on Monday, he's hardly a huge star now is he.

Ratings seem to be quite buoyant now - 8.06 million tuning in to see Chris voted off the show....

I wouldn't say that - he's the only solo Fame Academy/Pop Idol contestant apart from Will Young who has made a proper name for himself - he's not a "joke" act like Gareth Gates - and he's still on the scene a few years on. Plus he performed with Jamelia at this year's Brit Awards. Maybe not a huge star, but he's certainly had a fair amount of success, and is one of the few surviving talent show contestants who is actually credible.

No but he is an academy 'graduate' so I suppose that makes sense- look out for some big names from the worlds of comedy and entertainment acting as guest judges as we move towards Friday.

Well, he did win a Brit Award for 'Best Urban Act either this year or last.... I'd say that makes him a star...
