Did anyone else witness Richard Park making a wanking gesture towards Patrick Kielty on Fame Academy? After the performance of Kim Medcalf (a.k.a. Eastenders' Sam Mitchell) the pair had an unfriendly exchange of words. Yet as the camera moved away you could clearly see Park make the hand gesture.

At 7.30 in the evening this is very inappropriate. If you think the same please complain to the BBC and we can get these fools taken off air for good.

Oh bloody hell does it REALLY matter? He moved his hand in a certain way and people bother to complain, oh god I hate some people in this country.

Well I'm sorry for caring about the quality of family programmes. These people are professionals and should really know better. There's nothing wrong with a bit of banter but when it comes to entertainment programmes, but resorting to childish behaviour such as this is completely unacceptable. What sort of message does it give out to young kids watching? And if you disagree, then whats the point in a watershed?

I hate people who berate others for caring about the quality of family television.

I think you'll find most of the kids watching do far worse to their peers!

Kids don't need messages from TV anymore...they're out of hand on their own.

Get a life! How do you know that's what he was doing? For crying out loud, why do people interpret everything wrongly nowadays. I doubt most people would have noticed. Incidentally, why has no one complained about the appalling plots of death and abortion on soaps that also goes on air at 7.30pm. I found Jordan in that ridiculous catsuit with her offensive breasts far more shocking than an apparent hand gesture. However, Fame Academy is good family entertainment and if Richard Parks did or did not make a hand gesture when he was supposed to be off camera, it is hardly the end of the world. Kids in playgrounds say the F word all the time. Mothers will kids say the F word in front of their kids. We live in a corrupt, vulgar, self centred society with swear words used as everyday language. If you want to complain about vulgarity, write to Tony Blair and express your views. Don't complain to the BBC about something that isn't their fault or probably never even happened. If it did happen, the BBC would deal with it anyway. They are actually quite a reputable company you know! If people keep complaining about trivialities, then we'll end up with TV shows consisting of singing nuns and women's lib style shows. After all, we don't want a situation like the Janet Jackson boob incident last year. I mean, she flashed a nipple! Oh no! End of civilisation!!

I can't believe that I am being made to feel wronged for raising an issue such as this. Its the 'sit back and accept reality' viewpoint that is wrong. Why should I accept the "corrupt, vulgar, self centred society" you talk of?

I'm not saying lets wrap our kids up in cotton wool. Covering their ears from every swear word that might be on the street is both undesirable and unachievable. However, people in positions of authority, and by this I include TV presenters who clearly have an influence on society, should know better. The BBC as a reputable organisation should realise that these two presenters are undermining the whole vitality of a charity show by behaving in such a petty manner.

If you were attentive enough to clearly see the hand jesture, then you'll also have been attentive enough to see the broad grin which comes on Richard's face as he finishes the gesture, indicating, in my opinion at least, that the whole thing was to be taken in fun and NOT seriously.

In my experience such a hand movement has only ever resulted in fun...

Too true, if Javine can get away with it.... Razz

Sorry..anyway... Is anyone watching this Fame Academy? It annoys me when the celebs constantly utter the words "well, it is for good cause and its all about raising money.." Yeah, and the wage packet and publicity most of you all want at the end of this. (Including the judges and tutors!!!). Rolling Eyes It makes me sick to be honest! I'm pleased Jenny Eclair and Al Murray didn't get into the academy. They were true 'attention grabbers'.

Okay, so this is no Celeb Big Brother or I'm A Celeb but I feel the same 'whats in it for me' trend continues with each of these reality shows i'm afraid. I'm pleased that the BBC are cutting back on this sort of thing.

Adrian to win. The End. Smile
