Some of the celebrities have been revealed for Comic Relief does Fame Academy, which starts on Saturday. They include Kim Medcalfe from Eastenders and Reggie Yates from Top of the Pops. The celebrities were revealed during a trailer which first aired at 20:00. It looks like there will be a whole new title sequence for this series. Could this mean more series will follow in the future?

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty present a new extended series from the all new Academy on the banks of the Thames.

So I take it Endemol had trouble getting the same building as before? Does anyone know anything about the new building?

I believe that the new academy is the old Tower Bridge Centre, previously used by Lambeth College.

Will they ever have that big stage again like in the David Sneddon series? I always thought having the show in the academy was too cramped.

Not having two locations must have saved quite a bit of money - and it also made the streaming (i.e. 24/7 live feeds) more entertaining because you didn't have a caption saying "The students are rehearsing" on the days before the live shows.

For me it would be good to have a big stage for the final - but keep the early weeks in the academy.

The big stage was at Shepperton Studios wasn't it?

I'm going to miss the old grand mansion! Watching those late night chats with Jeremy on the veranda! Laughing

The format of the first series was much better - it had some clear differences to Pop Idol and was possibly a better format.

However, the changes introduced in series 2 made it look like a weak rip-off of Pop Idol.
