Well F Tn is due to start in 11 days time and i can't find anywhere the TV Listings for the first night. No listings are on Radiotimes website, and ftn.tv does not have much on it so does anyone know where there are listings for the channel? I know its showing Bravo, Trouble etc programs but i would like to know what times shows are on so i can start planing my viewing.
And also what about UK SillyIdeas,.....oh sorry BrightIdeas, i would of thought some listings would be available but there not!
I'm sure listings will be avalible soon, but I don't hold much promise for either channel. UK Bright Ideas will be a daytime service and so it will be full of Daytime programmes and Ftn will be the 'best' bits of Flextech's channels, but the barker doesn't look good that they are playing out at the moment.

They both look like a particularly dire addition to Freeview.
The only thing that got me vaguely interested in the barkers was that Sven on BrightIdeas - quite fancy him
I think This is terrible that FTN and uk brightideas isn't exclusive to Freeview. As much as I welcome new channels it isn't fair on freeview customers they deserve to have some exclusive channels. TheHits TMF Ftn and UkBrightIdeas should be exclusive to Freeview.

No not really, people get Freeview because they don't want, or can't afford another digital system - thats the theory anyway.
If the channels were exclusive they would be rubbish because the broadcasters wouldn't be able to afford to make and show decent programmes. I thought UK Bright Ideas and Ftn were only on Freeview, but then I thought the same about The Hits (and I was right until they realised nobody was calling them).
They both look like a particularly dire addition to Freeview.
Well Freeview is just going to take what it can get, and I have to say that it isn't panning out to be a particularly good service, too many of it's channels are just the dregs of Skydigital put into an environment where there aren't many good channels to hide them. If I had Freeview, I have to say that I'd probably spend most of my time watching the News channels, and occasionally changing to QVC if there's a technology hour on. At present, the only particularly decent new channel on there is UK History.
I thought f tn might have been quite good, but then if they are just pulling cack from Trouble and Bravo then it probably won't be. It needs to have generous helpings of Living and Challenge to make it any good.
UK BrightIdeas I do believe is just a placeholder channel. My prediction is that UK Gold 2 will get renamed to something else and carried FTA on DTT.
And I wish Sky would get on with this Sky One-esque channel that they intend to swap one of their channels out for.
Some hard words need to be said to Turner too. If they are still interested in the TCM/Boomerand/CNN split, they need to be told to stop dragging their feet and do it, or else loose their space and Freeview looks for someone else.
Freeview does still have the potential to be a nice little service, but at the minute it's really only offering more choice, not more quality choice. I'm hoping that they whip it into shape soon.

UKHistory is a wonderful channel and is probably the channel I watch most on Freeview. I'm not particularly interested in history, but when they have those Ice Mummies programmes I do like to watch them.
However I think Freeview is more of a "flick through and have a look" service, where as SKY is more of a "must remember to watch a certain programme" service.
As for ftn, it doesn't look very appealing at all. I really hope Turner get a move on and sign up and maybe if SDN find someone who isn't a shopping channel to add to their multiplex.
Programming from LivingTV will include What Men Want, The Stag and Hen Show and Hollywood Star Treatment, as well as Ricki Lake, which will be shown daily in a double-bill from 18.30.
Bravo-originated programmes will kick in from around 10pm each day and run into the early hours. Shows such as Spy School, A-Z of Bad Boys and Future Fighting Machines will be featured.
From Challenge comes the Richard Orford gameshow Defectors, which will air daily in a double-bill from 4.50am. Trouble's contribution will be Cruel Winter, which will go out in a 6pm slot.
Some of the newer additions are disappointing. The programming on f tn looks pretty dire to say the least. Although I have never watched Bravo, Living TV or Challenge the names of the programmes really want to make me switch over to UK History which is a lot more interesting than the carp on the preview showreel on f tn and UK BrightIdeas.
The specific schedule for the day on TMF (pop in the morning, oldies from 9-3 and the latest chart releases when the kids get home) sounded interesting at first, but it seems that they have recently decided to drop that in favour of the never ending repeats of Nelly and Kelly's Dilemma and Robbie Williams' Feel.
It looks pretty bland now and you probably could not tell much of a difference between TMF and
the (s)hits because they always seem to be playing either Robbie Williams with Feel or Nelly and Kelly (except for the press red reminder and song selection where you have to dial a hideously expensive premium rate number in order to get some crappy ringtone which will p1ss everyone off!)
The future for Freeview does not look terribly bright (no pun intended!) and someone really needs to get their arse in gear and their finger out otherwise Freeview will probably end up being an over hyped flop without any decent channels.
The only decent channels I would watch on Freeview are SKY News, BBC NEWS 24, UKHistory and TMF (if they stuck to their original plan).
I sincerely hope that Freeview does not become a platform for the castoffs from SKY & Cable that people do not want to watch (e.g. shopping channels, makeover shows et al)

Well the whole idea of freeview is the replacement for analogue TV. To be honest it's not a bad lineup as most people will use it just for the "core" channels (BBC1, ITV, BBC Choice, News 24...) so in that sense it's a good service.

imo, it's allready become that. SDN are going to have Bidup.TV on there. OK it's a more innovative shopping channel than most, but even so a 3rd shopping channel on a platform which can only support 25 channels is not a good idea.
All Freeview has added to DTT (excluding the radio channels) is Sky Travel, UK History, The Hits, The Music Factory, Sky News, Sky Sports News, F tn and UK BrightIdeas. It's also probable that ITV News Channel only went 24 hours because of the advent of Freeview, and otherwise would've stayed at it's 5:30-9AM hours.
Out of them, UK History is the only channel worth getting excited about. I did have high hopes for F tn, but it now looks like it won't really be that good, and I've allready giving up on UK BrightIdeas from the name alone. If UK BrightIdeas gets swapped out for UK Gold 2 (which I think is a distinct possibility) and Sky get rid of SSN in favour of their Sky One channel (which I think will eventually turn out to be Sky One Mix on a timeshare operation with one of their other channels) then it might have something worth watching a lot of the time. Until then, I really don't think it's that much better than the crippled 3 multiplex DTT service that was in place between May and October.
I know I'm being very harsh on what is essentially something for nothing, but the something just isn't living up to the hype of what they said it would be.

Which brings me to my next point. If the BBC/Crown Castle wanted to refer to their service as Freeview for internal/official purposes than so be it, but it should never have been marketed with a brand name.
The toughest nuts to crack on the conversion to digital TV (which still represents the majority of the population) are those which DON'T WANT anything new, they just want so called 'normal telly'. I know it's clear that it's not pay TV and you only need to make a one off purchase of a DTT receiver, but that's missing the point, in giving it a brand name, it's instantly different to 'normal telly' and will have instantly turned people off.
I personally know of 3 people who have said more or less the exact words 'I don't want this Freeview thing, I'm happy with normal TV'.
I maintain that would should have been done was that they should have explained what DTT is, and that soon (if you call 'soon' over 10 years away) it will be the 'normal telly' which every TV and video gets for free, just like 1-5 is now, and then go on to say that recently a lot more channels have launched on DTT, and as everyone will have to get this new form of normal telly eventually, they might as well get it now. Freeview is not something I would have mentioned anywhere.
I accept that a lot of people will still not rush out and buy a DTT box, but they will have it set into their minds that DTT is not an optional thing, it's what normal telly is becoming and sooner or later they'll have to get it. And after mulling it over for a few months, most of those people probably would opt for DTT.
As it is now, the mindset that Freeview is just an add on service like Sky and Cable and not something they'll have to concern themselves with has become very strong allready.
If UK BrightIdeas gets swapped out for UK Gold 2 (which I think is a distinct possibility)
Does UKGold 2 show repeats of Bugs?

Oh no not another shopping channel!
How many more shopping channels are we going to get?
