Any thoughts on Ricky Gervais' new offering?

Having seen episode 1 only so far (ep. 2 is on tape but I haven't had time to watch yet), I'd say "Good effort, 6/10". I think there are some good lines and good ideas, but he's trying too hard... there are big issues being dealt with alongside satire of the film industry alongside Gervais' usual observational comedy.

I'm not sure that the mixture quite works...

I don't really care, I hate him, the fat tw*t isn't funny at all, apart from his Office dance, where I laughed AT him.

He wants people to laugh AT him, thats the whole point of his comedy. He plays the fool. That is what makes Ricky great.
