I never thought of that. Even still I doubt Ballet will make a comeback just because of extended BBC ONE Idents today. There has to be some change, I just don't know what it is.

The long symbol into News 24 was due to waiting for a suitable opt in point.

The symbol into Songs of Praise will only be 12" Smile

How did you know that - it was exactly 12 seconds?!

Wake up, boy!

Anyway ... are we to assume then that the basis of your "rebrand" theory was BBC One trying to sync itself with an opt-in point on a rolling news channel?

First thing I never suggested a rebrand, in fact I said there wouldn't be a rebrand. Secondly I was just commenting that the idents were longer than usual and thirdly is Eastenders a rolling news channel? You seem to be forgetting that it wasn't just ahead of the news that there were longer than usual idents.

Wasn't the symbol before EastEnders quite long because the announcer said quite a lot?

He did, after 16 or so seconds of Bollywood

Haka was quite long (17.45), well for Haka anyway - it always seems to be a short ident. In fact to be honest with you that was the longest I've ever seen of Haka appx. 12-13 secs

You can never shut 'em up.

Perhaps BBC One just want to show viewers a bit more of what the station is about. I wish they could do this more often. How great would it be if new idents came along. Very Happy

Even if the announcers do go on a bit they still didn't start until well past the usual duration of the ident
