Who's we?
I will check it out with CNN in about 30 mins, but 'we' did believe that this story would be broken 'in a few hours'.
That was at 4 in the afternoon.

Imaginations running wild...

IF queen mum dies at 3pm
the channels have to broadcast a special service dark sets ect
that must take time so the channels must have an aggrement to broadcast that news at a particular time?
i.e. 9pm or 10pm

Latest report from London - A guard who stands outside guarding Buckingham Palace has said 'No Comment, but there will be a statement from Buckingham Palace'. This info has been passed through several people so the story might not be exactly the same. But now my source is saying nothing about the Queen Mother so maybe as said above it might be something to do with Margaret.

As a few people have said my source may not be as reliable as I originally thought.

I thought they weren't allowed to speak - just stand there...well...guarding?

Could be a policeman, I suppose - there's normally plenty of them outside the palace, and they're allowed to speak!

Did you forget to wash your hands, Mr S?

I think people are getting a little carried away.

Although its my night off, if anything happens, then the RATS system alarm goes off in all BBC news centres nationwide. A message will appear on all ENPS screens and all local opt-outs on radio are suspended. The networks would announce the event and all radio would transfer to one GNS (General News Service) in London. TV Newsroom N6 would announce the news nation wide and stay on air. I don't see where a 3 or 4 hour delay would come into it. Also regarding lighting, it is not a priority and can be changed relitively quickly.

Remind me what RATS is again - an auto paging/SMS alert thing - or does it just alert the people in the newsroom?

William
