I have horrific memories of that earthquake...I was there...I'll explain them if you want once I've finished reading this account.

That was the point! Nobody knew about it! When it happened at around 3 am, we were all thrown out of bed and we had to go downstairs (9 floors, in the dark - there was no power) and sit in the car listening to the radio trying to find out what the hell was going on. When the sun came up along with the power around 6 am, we started to watch TV to find out what was going on. The Turkish TV stations were all up on emergency power covering the incident, but none of the foreign stations even knew about it...BBC World and CNNi were all happily covering the Middle East and other stories. I was lucky enough to be able to connect to my ISP in Istanbul around that time.

I heard that most broadcasters outside of Turkey revealed the news as 'Breaking' about six hours after it happened. The guy who wrote this was doing his job...he was right in the actual earthquake zone, I'm sure he felt aftershocks too. I was not, but just watching television for ten minutes a night was enough to reduce you to tears of shock, anger and frustration that there is absolutely nothing you can do.

Sorry, but shouldn't this be in TV Websites Forum?

This is where it gets a little hazy! The other forum was created as a notice board for webmasters to post links of related sites and provide details on updates etc. (In fact, I'm considering simply converting it into a guestbook-type thing that shows updates). If people want to discuss websites rather than simply advertise on this forum, then that's fine.

Probably doesn't make it very clear does it? Oh well...!

Cheers, Asa

The links aren't for a standard presentation site so I thought it was better here & would be more widely seen!

I was thinking about moving it this morning, but remembered what Asa said to me, so I decided to leave it.

I think we over-react to topics being posted in the wrong forum...if it's strongly off-topic then move it, but I don't think anyone needs reminding that this topic should be in another forum, not this one. The TV Home forum is much more popular than the others - it would be seen the most there.
