You don't die of AIDS. It is the collapse of the immune system which leads to lesser infections causing death. I find your speculation ghoulish and ill-informed.

Shocked to hear of Kevin's death. He was a great DJ, especially on Smooth Radio, and he will be sorely missed.

Maybe a case for a new "Don't die of ignorance?" campaign then.

Rather unfortunate that the government fell over itself to make sure everyone was informed of the facts in the 1980s, but did not maintain efforts in the intervening years and as such the rumours are myths are now abound.

I think maybe this is not the time or the place for that particular discussion.

Agreed. Sorry I brought it up.

Perhaps not. But to return to Moz's original point, what makes this news all the more shocking is that a man has died suddenly at an exceptionally young age and there is (as yet) no explanation as to why, so people will inevitably start to speculate.

It's probably best not to speculate as nothing has been confirmed. But dying in your sleep at only 44 is highly unusual and so sad.

"Explanations" are not required to be given to the public. Some may speculate, others are just very sad at this news.

And others both wonder why, and are sad at the news at the same time. They are probably the normal ones.

I think until we know for certain it's best not to speculate. It's scary though because I'm not much younger than him and it makes me worry about sleeping!!

Don't worry, just get on and enjoy life. For all we know a giant meteor could wipe us all out at any moment. Life's too short to dwell on problems.

I remember there was similar speculation for a few weeks after Liquid News presenter Christopher Price died. He was only 34 when he was found dead in his home, and as with Kevin Greening there was no immediate announcement on the cause of death.

Turned out it was an ear infection that had spread to his brain. Sometimes these things just tragically happen out of the blue.

According to the smooth radio website, Lynn Parsons is scheduled in Kevin Greening's programme slot. Does anyone know if this was planned anyway?

I don't remember the name of the presenter who was on this afternoon, but he said it, followed by "in the Kevin Greening slot", as if to say it was still his show.
