Great Britain = the England/Scotland/Wales land-mass.
This is "Great" in the proper sense of the word (i.e. as in "big", rather than "fantastic"). This is because, of the two main land-masses of the British Isles (the England/Wales/Scotland land-mass, and the Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland land-mass), the former is obviously the larger of the two. Hence it is therefore " Great Britain".
United Kingdom = Great Britain (including any-and-all English/Scottish/Welsh islands), plus the Province of Northern Ireland .
Indeed, the full name for our country is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland", as it says on UK passports.

Is there a reason why we enter as the "United Kingdom", rather than Great Britain?
I know there's a difference between the two geographically, but am I right in thinking if Scotland went in alone, there would still be a UK-labelled entry?
