Is there a reason why we enter as the "United Kingdom", rather than Great Britain?

I know there's a difference between the two geographically, but am I right in thinking if Scotland went in alone, there would still be a UK-labelled entry?

Because that's the name of the country. Great Britain is an island that does not include Northern Ireland yadda yadda ya...

If Scotland had there own entry, then we would still be the UK.

And before you ask, the full name 'Great Britain and Northern Ireland' in the Olympics.

To be honest, they were a rather nice distraction from the absolutely shocking picture quality of some of the state broadcasters.

Andy Abrahams is just the sort of act I can't stand.

A black male singer? I don't quite understand... unless you're saying that you don't like him because he rose to fame via the X Factor? If that's what you're saying fair enough, but you can't hold that against him personally...

Thanks for painting me as a racist reality snob, neither of which of the reasons. Just personal taste I guess - just not a fan of middle of the road music by numbers.

He's not painting you as anything. He's just questioning your opinion. Honestly Brekkie you gotta learn to take an arguement.

I personally thought Andy did a brilliant job, he didn't enter as a joke for the contest such as in recent years.

You got to learn to take a bit of sarcasm too.

Either way, Andy isn't the issue here - it's what WE can do to improve our chances in the future, regardless of what may be happening elsewhere.

I think its a number of things,

* war
* new eastern blocks
* some very crap songs

I have a very bad feeling that the bbc wont do anything!

Take the domestic contest seriously (Melodifestivalen) ... don't send losers, look at the demographic of winners and participate fully in the promotional tours taken by contestants prior to the contest. Release the Song earlier so it is known in the UK as well.

Any idea of sending a 'tarty' girl group would be met with failure again.

My recipe metrosexual male group appealing to the gay groupies, who after all are the most vocal here and on the continent in their promotion of the show.

The Song, Simple construction, catchy chorus, one or two key changes and perhaps - IF IT FITS - a five second or so novelty element. It must be choreographed well too.

Regrettably due to the Xenophobic nature of some continental countries (observe the response to non-white footballers when they play in some states), the entrants should be caucasian too.
